The Diary Game 21/11/2025: My Visit to Chocolat & Patsry Expo in Tunis

Pink welcome corner: candy-coloured benches, blossom trees and kids with sparkling eyes.
Hello, Steemit!
Today I’m taking you with me to the 7th edition of the Salon du Chocolat & Pâtisserie, which this year becomes the very first Chocolat & Pâtisserie Expo 2025 in Tunisia.
The event is hosted at the UTICA headquarters in Tunis. As soon as you walk in, the city noise disappears: in the air you don’t smell traffic or stress, only warm cocoa and freshly baked cakes.
Pink lights wash the whole hall and give it a festive, almost futuristic glow. You hear the murmur of visitors, the click of machines, the crinkle of wrapping… and from time to time the soft “wow” of someone tasting a sample and pretending they won’t go back for a second one.

Chocolate pizza, chocolate burger, chocolate shawarma… welcome to the land of sweet crazy ideas.
My first stop is a stand entirely devoted to chocolate street food. The posters shout “Pizza Chocolat”, “Burger Chocolat”, “Chawarma Chocolat”. On the table: crêpe makers, an oven, waffle irons and a lit display case that looks like a laboratory for desserts. Everything is designed to turn savoury classics into sweet versions that could ruin any diet in less than a minute.
I watch a chocolatier assemble a kind of sweet “tacos” filled with chocolate sauce and caramelised hazelnuts. The smell is irresistible. It feels like we’re witnessing the birth of a new kind of junk food… but in the best possible way.

Professional gear everywhere: mixers, chillers, ovens… enough to build your own chocolate workshop from scratch.
A few steps further, the atmosphere changes: rows of professional machines shining under the spotlights. Giant mixers, mint-green stand mixers, refrigerated display cases, cooling tunnels… You can tell this expo is meant for both chocolate lovers and serious pastry pros looking for their next investment.
Around the stands, sales reps demonstrate, open doors, let you touch buttons. People talk about temperature control, capacity, efficiency… always with a piece of chocolate in hand.

O’Délices, one of the brands on site: even the tagline “Sweet treats that melt your heart” makes you hungry.
Next I land at the O’Délices booth. The name fits perfectly: on the trays, tiny tarts, neat little entremets, soft colours and delicate decorations. Their business card promises “Des douceurs qui font fondre le cœur” – Sweet treats that melt the heart – and honestly, one bite is enough to prove it true.

Mini entremets, tarts and cake slices… every level of this stand is a new temptation.
The expo is also a visual walk. Each booth has its own identity: some minimalist and refined, others loud and overflowing with colour. I find myself in the middle of an improvised tasting around a three-tiered cake stand: on top the most delicate pastries, below the comforting classics. People discuss textures, crunch, how intense the chocolate is. It feels like a TV baking show, only this time we’re actually allowed to eat the props.

Looks like a jewellery box… except everything is 100% edible.
It’s impossible to ignore the chocolate bonbons displayed like gemstones. Lined up by colour and shape, they shine behind the glass: pearly white, deep green, ruby red, marbled blue… You almost feel guilty eating them and breaking the pattern. But don’t worry, I bravely made the sacrifice. Strictly in the name of blog research, of course.

Crêpe stations, hot plates and an M&M’s mascot: the fun side of the expo in one photo.
Between two tastings, I watch a live demo of sweet crêpes. The batter spreads in a perfect circle, the spatula flies, then toppings rain down: sauces, chunks of chocolate, biscuit pieces. A small crowd of kids has gathered in front, eyes locked on the plate, ready to jump as soon as the crêpe is cut into sample pieces.

Chocolate hypnosis: crunchy centers turning round and round under a shower of melted chocolate.
One of the most hypnotic moments is in front of this massive stainless-steel drum. Inside, crunchy centers roll endlessly while liquid chocolate slowly coats them layer after layer. Each turn makes them a little rounder, a little shinier. You could stand there for minutes just watching the motion, breathing in the warm cocoa smell and forgetting everything else.

Cake slices on a stick, fully coated in chocolate and tied with neat ribbons.
My personal crush of the day: these cake slices turned into ice-cream-style pops. A wedge of cheesecake on a wooden stick, dipped in coloured chocolate, topped with fruit or biscuits, finished with a small cream ribbon. It’s the perfect summary of the expo: playful, generous, super photogenic and dangerously tempting.

Creativity in every bite: lemon meringue praline, speculoos, caramel and many more flavour bombs.
I end the visit at a stand of fine chocolates where each piece has a precise name: lemon-meringue praline, speculoos, salted caramel… The shapes are refined, the colours subtle. You’re supposed to close your eyes while tasting and guess the different layers. At this point I honestly have no idea how I’ll explain this “professional outing” to my bathroom scale.
Before leaving, I walk back to the Chocolat In photo corner. Two pink blossom trees, pastel seats shaped like letters, and children running around with chocolate moustaches. It’s the kind of scene that makes you think: I can’t wait for the 8th edition.
