Light of the world

In John 8:12, Jesus declares himself to be the light of the world.

"Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, “ I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
JOHN 8:12"

So being a follower of Jesus will result in walking a path which is lit and the light will also be evident in such a life.
It can also be seen in Matthew 5:14-16; where Jesus says we are the light of the world.

“You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven.
MATTHEW 5:14‭-‬16. AMP"

From these verses it can be seen that once you follow Jesus you will have been the light of life and we are then being compelled to go ahead and shine the light to all the earth.

This can be accomplished by showing love and compassion to people around us. When people see this light in us they are encouraged to even glorify God.
