Audio-Visual device is one ☝ of the most effective ways learning, teaching...these days. We can easily detect it from our preference between a radio 📻 and a TV 📺. Better still, one of the senses that we rely on heavily is our sight.
The importance of the visual dimension cannot be overemphasized. Even in the area of worship, the outlook of a beautiful well-decorated church ⛪, with a great choir and a soul-searching sharing of the Word of God can elevate🤲 the emotions and help to lift up our hearts 💕 to the Lord.
In the 1st reading, just the visual aspects would make the worship-worthy enough - the ark of the covenant, the sacred vessels, the sacrifice of countless sheep 🐑 and oxen 🐂, and of course the cloud of glory that filled the Temple of the Lord🕍. The description of the atmosphere would certainly make one bow down in worship.
In the Gospel, however, there was no such fanfare or paparazzi when Jesus stepped on the shores of Genessaret. Yet people recognized👀 Him and they brought the sick on stretchers to wherever they heard He was, and they even begged Him to let them touch 👆the fringe of His cloak. Yes the people recognized Him, but it was certainly more than just in the visual sense🤔.
In the Eucharist, we see and we look, but do we recognize anything❓Of the Eucharist, it is said that we become what we eat at Holy Communion. It can also be said that we become what we see, and we become what we look at.
