Christian wisdom: Avoid the profane talk and foolish arguments of what some people wrongly call 'Knowledge' 1 Timothy 6:20

The Book of Acts recounts that the apostle Paul, during his third missionary journey, founded the Church of Ephesus, and it is in the Book of Acts that Timothy is mentioned as one of his disciples. It is not known exactly when Paul wrote his first letter to Timothy, but what is known from what is written in the letter is that when Paul left that city to finish his third missionary journey in Jerusalem, he left Timothy in charge of that Church.
In his First Letter to Timothy, the apostle Paul wrote recommendations of Christian wisdom to his beloved disciple for leading the spiritual community towards communion. The times of the early Church were very difficult times because with the conversion of the first pagans also came the confluence of worldly creeds and philosophies with Christianity. This is why Paul addressed these words to Timothy in his letter: "I urged you to stay there in Ephesus and stop those whose teaching is contrary to the truth. Don't let them waste their time in endless discussion of myths and spiritual pedigrees" 1 Timothy 1:3-4.
It is important to remember that Paul, in his epistle to the Galatians, mentioned idolatry, witchcraft, and factions or divisions as works of the flesh. If the community of Ephesus was being guided by the spirit of wisdom, these problems, which were essentially a leaven of sin, could not be imposed on the Christian community. Paul's message was clear, to live according to the Spirit is to live the gifts received from the highest and most perfect. And this spiritual truth is so for a very simple reason, the spiritual gifts are precision and accuracy, progressive thinking, and an increase in life ("I am the way and the truth and the life" John 14:6).
Heresies, or in other words, the teaching of the error, were a constant threat in Paul's time. And it was to preserve the purity of the faith revealed by the Lord that Paul seems to end his letter to Timothy with a warning about the Gnostics, who claimed to possess special knowledge or Gnosis, with these words: "Avoid the profane talk and foolish arguments of what some people wrongly call 'Knowledge'" 1 Timothy 6:20.
