Who Is This God?!!!!

    1. Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old. Psalms 25:6 (KJV)

      1. Old- [Olam]- (o-lawm)- vanishing point, time out of mind, eternity. This Hebrew word conveys the idea of before there was anything. God's nature did not change with the creation of man. He has always been as He is now! Hallelujah!!
  1. Who Is This God?!... 8. But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9. Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; Deut 7:8-9 (KJV).... {Sounds a lot like Jesus's words in John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.}

A. The first part of this scripture reminds us of God's faithfulness to His word and to His people. 8 But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. {Interesting note. The Hebrew word used here for Egypt is [Mitsrayim]- (mits-rah-yim)- Dual or double straits. It basically is x2 of the word [Matsor {another name for Egypt}]- (maw-tsore)- defence, fortified, siege, entrenchment; this all inferring the sense of a limit. The reason [Mitsrayim] (as in a dual limit) was used instead of [Matsor] (as in a single limit) was that Israel was not just limited in physical bondage to Egypt but also, spiritual bondage.}

  1. This prediction and promise of the exodus- (Ancient Greek word [Exodos]- going out.) had been made 430 years previous to the event..... 13. And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; 14. And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance. Gen 15:13-14 (KJV),... let's look also at... 40. Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years. 41. And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt. Ex 12:40-41 (KJV)

Covenant Of Canaan:

  1. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. 3. And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, 4. As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. 5. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. 6. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. 7. And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. 8. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. Gen 17:1-8 (KJV)

Covenant Of Jesus The Seed:

  1. And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, 16. And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: 17. That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; 18. And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice. Gen 22:15-18 (KJV)...... Paul's confirmation of that seed..... 16. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. 17. And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. 18. For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. Gal 3:16-18 (KJV)

  2. Why am I today drawing out all of these predictions and promises? Because there is a failing of the heart of the people of God to stand fast in the commitment to serve God with their whole life. It seems like if we don't see God move within a certain expected time period we begin to lose heart. Remember God is faithful to You and to His word...not the clock.

A. So what really is the problem? Due seasons. 7. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Gal 6:7-9 (KJV.....) (My wife jokingly quoted the later part of this verse as, "...for in due season we will faint, if we reap not. Wow!)

  1. My question is what is a "due season"? Let's look at a few of the words that are used here in verse 9:

A. Due- [Idios]- (id-ee-os)- personal, private, belonging to one's self. This is not a time of corporate blessing but something that is unique to you.

B. Season- [Kairos]- (kahee-ros)- set, proper or appointed time. This is a time that has already been determined by God for you! Ready or not it's coming; unfortunately many of these seasons have passed us by because we have already fainted.

  1. We have already determined that God keeps His word for His and our sake, even if it takes 430 years. Now God realizes that we do not have 430 years to wait for realized promises, prayers and faithfulness even though it sometimes feels that way. I think this is the reason why it states....if we faint not. Gal 6:7-9 (KJV) fainting today among the saints seems to be an epidemic!!!!

    A. The evidence is not necessarily declining church attendance but a consensus that if God does not bless me or if I cannot do what I want to do the effort of following Him is not worth it.

****Please remain faithful to God! He has and always will be faithful to you. If it seems like He hasn't been, it is not because He wasn't but because you missed it when He was. Hmmmmmm.
