Thoughts for the day - 2/27/18

in #christianity8 years ago

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:14

I often tell myself and others I know, when they or I begin drifting in direction, to "keep your eye on the prize". This is a common expression and there are hundreds more, great quotes on setting your goals in life. The question is what is your goal? What is the prize? For we know "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

When we wake, we make choices and our day's direction will follow what we treasure. For me, this is often a realization that my aim might not be on target for the true prize.

Take time to reflect on your direction and the true prize. Our Father knows the best path, perhaps it is best we just let Him lead the way.

Many Blessings.

We all have an earthly goal. For most of us it is usually based on material possessions and how much we can accumulate of these. However, it is what we do with the material things in order to achieve our heavenly goal is what matters ultimately. Accumulating wealth is not bad if your intentions are to share it with the poor and needy. Having more means you can help more. Sadly, for most, the earthly goal becomes the end instead of the stepping stone towards the heavenly goal. That to my mind is when keeping an eye on the prize is forgotten.

You are EXACTLY right on my friend.

I take great joy in sharing what the Lord blesses me with and He seems to just keep blessing!

Sorry it took so long to get back with you.

Have a joyous day!

Thanks for the word of God my dear brother. I just want to share also my daily verse hope you like it :) I am doing it daily.

Glad to hear you are sharing His word. May you be blessed with clarity and wisdom.

I also see another side to this Bible text. Not to be satisfied until heaven. Sometimes we are in tune with the Holy Spirit and we are tempted to think we've arrived, and most times just by the corner is a huge temptation and distraction.

This does not only apply to the heavenly race. It also applies to the everyday life.

Thank you @bycoleman. I look forward to your posts.

Yes, this is especially true when everything seems to be doing great in our lives. It is then easy to believe that we are being handed special care since we are one of the faithful.

In reality we are not promised an easy and "successful" life here on earth, unless we properly define success.

Ah yes. We waver so often in our journey to reach our treasure, to be with the Lord. But even when we selfishly choose our own desires and ambitions over spending our time on the Lord, He still loves us so much that he gently guides us back to the path. We truly are so lucky!

Very well said, Craig. How often have we been "gently" nudged.

Thanks as always and have a blessed day!

God Bless! Haha actually I had just been addressing you when I wrote Craig on one of my other posts, that’s your name right? Anyway, always enjoy the thoughts for the day!

Yes, I am Craig.

Thanks glad you enjoy the thoughts, I take great pleasure in hearing from everyone on this thread.

Blessings!

The goal in life is different from one person to another. This is due to the person's thoughts and the way in which he grew up. But the important thing is that there is a goal in the person that he seeks in his life so that the life he lives in is meaningful and useful and even reminds him after his death of something useful and useful that leaves him behind.
Greetings bycoleman.

@bycoleman Thanks for sharing us a valuable guideline. I really love your posts. Keep sharing please.

Blessings to you this day!

Whenever I come across this passage, I see a man who like Jesus Christ was not just preaching but practicing what he preached.
A man that manifested all the 9 gifts of the Holy spirit. Only people who are willing to follow Christ wholly are entitled to all of these.

Thank you for sharing.

Have a joyous and fruitful day!
