GOD ABSOLUTELY IS!
This short but powerful message by Pastor John Piper has changed my life. I've been a Christian for a long time but never really reflected on the God that I worship. Pastor John Piper clearly presents the characteristics or the meaning of God's absolute being ... of Him just being Who He Is. In Genesis we know God introduced Himself as "I Am Who I Am". It's a bit confusing to non-Greeks or non-Jews but really is just a simple concept.. God Is Who He says He Is..
1.) God's absolute being means He never had a beginning.
2.) God's absolute being means, God will not end. El Olam the Everlasting God. If He did not come into being, He cannot go out-of-being.
3.) God's absolute being means, God is absolute reality.
4.) God's absolute being means, that God is absolutely independent.
5.) God's absolute being means, rather, that everything that is NOT God depends TOTALLY on God.
6.) God's absolute being means, all the universe by comparison to God is, as nothing.
7.) God's absolute being means that God is constant. He is the same yesterday today and forever.
8.) God's absolute being means that He is the absolute standard of truth, and goodness and Beauty.
9.) God's absolute being means, God does whatever He pleases. And it is always right and it is always beautiful.
10.) God's absolute being means, that He is the most important and the most valuable reality and the most important, most valuable person that is. He is worthy of your highest interest, your greatest attention, your deepest admiration and your sweetest enjoyments. Including being superior in all this place and the universe.
The points that hit home for me are points 5 and 6. We've all heard the expression, "the Universe will make it happen.. ". It's an expression either taken lightly or seriously, but either way, it's utterly opposed to God's absolute being. Why pray or trust on a created thing when you can depend and trust on the Creator?

So true.....the points you present here are as the Pastor. bleujay studies under, teaches the essence of God. The essence of God being His righteousness, justice, veracity, integrity, immutability, omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience. virtue-love, faithfulness.
These points also explain the attack on absolutes...even the absolutes of maths for so many years.

Yes, that's why the concept of God is irresistible for would be philosophers. Often times the more one tries to demystify deconstruct or define God the limited mind or conscience simply cannot. I will add the tag. Thanks bluejay!

Amen, God sustains all things. If He changed His mind, the universe would be nothing..
