Daily Psalms and Proverbs - Thurs. June 29th

in #christianity9 years ago

A good day to all reading this! Today's reading is Psalm 6:1-2 and Proverbs 3:13-14:

Psalm 6:1-2

{To the chief Musician on Neginoth upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David.} O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.

In this psalm, as in many others, David is writing while under the threat of enemies who seek to destroy him. He confesses his weakness to the Lord and asks for His mercy, because if the Lord would chastise Him as his sins deserved, without any mercy, he would be destroyed. God shows His ultimate mercy to us in sacrificing His own Son for our sakes, so that He can overlook our sins while Jesus took our punishment for us.

Proverbs 3:13-14

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

These verses remind us of Jesus' words in Matthew 6:19-21:

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

To find wisdom and get undertanding means to put one's trust in the Lord as our Savior. As we trust in Him, we live our lives for Him, laying up eternal treasure in Heaven.

wow , this is amazing....

God's Word is amazing. Would you happen to be a Christian? There are many Christians posting here.

sure man, i love God and christianity.

Praise God! That's wonderful. You'll find a great many Christians here. And here's a guide to Steemit I put together with a lot of useful links. And by the way, I'm not a man, just for the record :) I think I need to get a different profile picture. Unless a woman makes it obvious here that she's a woman, it's easy to assume she's a man. The whole site is blue, and from what I see in the "introduce yourself" topics, there are more men here than women. Well, I hope Steemit works out well for you. God bless.

oh sorry for using word man for you. thanks for all the information...

No problem. And you're welcome :)

Love Psalms and Proverbs.. so much wisdom in the reading and practising of proverbs!

Yes there is. I looked to see years ago if I could just get Proverbs in order to give out to people who don't know the Lord as their Savior, just because there is so much in it that people can relate to yet they also show the divine nature of true wisdom. I don't think I found just a book of Proverbs though when I looked for one.

I'm so thankful for God's mercy, and our treasures are truly stored up in Him
Wonderful scriptures doule.

Amen! I am too. There's so much good in this world and it's all from Him, but I'm so thankful too that we don't have to settle for it with all its curses too, and that our real home is in Heaven instead!

Thank you so much, too, @livingwaters, for the randowhale upvote! I appreciate you doing that for me. God bless you!

Thanks for the post

I need to learn how you format your pages and make those links with the blue words. Is that in the "short and simple guide to steemit"?

I don't think so, but I've been meaning to add something about it. Thanks for reminding me. You can find that here: https://github.com/adam-p/markdown-here/wiki/Markdown-Cheatsheet

You can use either markdown code or some html works here too.

So for links: [optional text or leave blank](your link address)

And in html: text required here

Thanks for that tip!

You're welcome. With the html I forgot that it would make a link so you can't see it, but this is it:

<ahref="linkaddress">text

Just put a space between the first a and h and it will work then.

Okay that didn't work either.

But you can look up html everywhere :) It helps to know it posting here. Sometimes it works out better.
