Biblical Prayer takes Practice

Hello Everyone, this is Pastor Shin from Christian Spirituality Academy.

오늘은 '성경적인 기도는 훈련이 필요하다'라는 제목으로 같이 생각해보겠습니다.
We are going to talk about practicing to pray biblically.

우리네 교회에서는 이 제목같은 이야기를 들을 수 없죠.
You can't really hear this type of discussion in church.

새벽기도에 나오거나 교회에서 정한 기도회에 참석하는 것이 여유시간이 나거나 결심을 실행할 의지만 있으면 되기 때문입니다.
That's because participating in prayer meetings can be done on your spare time, as long as you are willing to come and join.

그럼으로 따로 기도훈련이 필요없죠.
And you don't need to practice to do so.

또한 기도하는 사람들이 기도자리에 앉아서 기도하는 내용도 목회자들과, 교인들 각자의 소원과 욕심을 채우는 기도에 불과하기 때문에...
...and many times, what people pray about is what they desire to achieve or gain in this world.

뭐 그런 기도를 하는데 훈련이 필요하겠습니까.
What practice do you need to pray like that?

그러면서, 기이하게도, 예수님을 닮아야한다고 목청을 높이고 있죠.
But you are still told you need to follow and be like Jesus Christ.

그렇다면, 예수님은 어떤 기도를 했는지 한번 살펴 보겠습니다.
Let's see how Jesus prayed in the Bible.

예수께서 나가사 습관을 따라... 누가복음 22: 39 - 44 말씀입니다.
In Luke 22: 39 - 44, "Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. "

또한 이럼으로 너희는 장차 올... 누가복음 21: 36 말씀이죠.
In Luke 21: 36, "Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man."

이처럼 예수님은 기도의 습관을 들이셨다고 말한, 성경의 유일한 인물입니다.
Jesus is the only one in the Bible that made a habit of praying.

물론, 다니엘도 하루 세번씩 기도했으며, 성경의 위인들도 하나님과 깊고 친밀한 교제의 기도를 했음으로 죄다 기도의 습관을 들였음에 틀림이 없습니다.
Of course, Daniel prayed 3 times a day, and other people in the Bible who have communicated with God

그러나 성경에서 이 기도의 습관을 들였다고 콕 찝어서 말한 인물은 예수님이 유일합니다.
But the only one Bible specifically mentions who practiced the prayer routine is Jesus.

예수님이 누구십니까?
Who is Jesus Christ?

전지전능한 하나님이 아니십니까?
Isn't he God Almighty?

그럼으로 하나님이 유약한 인간처럼 기도습관을 들일 필요가 있겠습니까?
Then is it necessary for Jesus to practice how to pray, just like us weak humans?

맞는 말이지만, 예수님도 우리와 같은 인간의 몸을 입고 계셨을 때에는 육체적인 한계를 누구보다 잘 알고 계셨기에 기도의 습관을 들이셨던 것입니다.
I guess that is also correct, but he did come to this world as a human being, and he knew the physical limitation humnas had. And that is why he practiced praying.

예수님이 거주할 집이 없으셔서 시간이 나면 한적한 광야에서 쉬시면서 기도하셨습니다.
He prayed out in the desert whenever he had time.

그렇다면 왜 이 기도의 습관을 들여야 할까요?
Why do we need to make a habit of praying like this?

예수님이 요청하시는 기도는 항상 기도하는 것입니다.
Jesus demands us to pray continuously.

그래서 종말이 가까울 수록, 깨어서 항상 기도하라고 명령하신 이유이죠.
And that is why he told us to be awake and pray continuously, especially when the end is near.

이는 쉬지말고 기도하라는 사도 바울의 말씀과 맥락을 같이 합니다.
This is similar to Apostle Paul's saying about perpetual prayer.

깨어서 항상 쉬지말고 기도하려면 기도하는 습관을 들이지 않고는 불가능한 일입니다.
It is impossible to stay awake and pray continuously without training ourselves to do it.

또다른 기도습관은 전심으로 기도하는 것입니다.
Another prayer habit we need to have is to pray with all our hearts.

겟세마네 동산에서 예수님이 기도하는 태도를 보십시오.
Think about how Jesus prayed in Gethsemane.

얼마나 힘을 다하고 용을 쓰는지, 이마에 모세혈관이 터져서 땀방울에 섞여 떨어질 정도입니다.
He prayed in agony and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down upon the ground, accroding to Bible.

그렇다면 평소에도 이같이 전심으로 기도하는 습관을 들이시지 않았겠습니까?
He must have prayed like this all the time; with all his might and all his heart.

이같은 기도의 습관을 보여준 이가 바로 야곱입니다.
Another great example of prayer is Jacob.

야곱이 강가에서 온 가족의 목숨이 걸린 기도를 했습니다.
Jacob prayed for his family's lives by the river.

그가 얼마나 처절한 싸움을 했던지는 하나님의 사자의 입에서 나온 말로 대변하고 있죠.
You can tell how hard he fought by what the angel has said.

하나님과 싸워 이겼다는 그 이스라엘이라는 말이 그것입니다.
His new name, Israel (May God prevail.) proves it.

그럼으로 그가 밤새도록 얼마나 몸부림을 치면서 기도했는지 상상하는 게 어렵지 않을 것입니다.
It is not too hard to imagine how hard he prayed and how desperate he was all night.

이처럼, 성경의 기도방식은 쉬지않고 전심으로 기도하는 태도를 말하고 있습니다.
This is the biblical way of praying. You need to pray with all your strength, without stopping.

그러나 그런 기도를 가르치는 교회는 거의 없죠.
But there aren't that many churches that teach the proper way of praying.

왜냐하면 새벽기도에 나와서 자신이 원하는 목록을 한바퀴 돌리는 일은 10분이면 충분하지 않을까요?
That is probably because it takes about 10 minutes to read off the list of what you want as prayer requests.

그래서 새벽회에 참석하여 기도하는 사람들의 기도시간은 1, 20분이 고작입니다.
People spend about 10 - 20 minutes when they come to the early morning prayer meetings.

뭐, 시간이 남으면 기도목록을 다시 한번 한바퀴 더 돌리면 되죠.
If they have more time, they repeat the list and go through it once more.

그렇다면 항상 깨어서 쉬지 않고 기도하는 내용이 자신이 소원하는 세속적인 축복의 목록을 반복하는 것이란 말입니까?
Does that mean "being awake and praying constantly" repeating your secular needs and desires again and again?

그래서 성경에서 요구하는 쉬지 않고 기도하라는 명령이 이해가 되지 않는 것이죠.
And that's why you can't understand what it is to pray constantly, as Bible demands.

기도란 전지전능한 하나님과 깊고 친밀하게 교제하는 통로입니다.
Prayer is a way to have an intimate relationship and communication with God.

기도의 내용은 하나님을 부르고 찬양하고 경배하며 회개하고 감사하며 하나님의 뜻을 요청하고 영혼을 구원할 사람들의 목록을 올려 드리면서 간청하는 것입니다.
Its content has to include calling the Lord, praising him, repenting our sins, thaking God, asking for his will, and asking for him to save lost souls.

그러나 우리네 교인들은, 그런 기도는 형식에 불과할 뿐입니다.
But these types of prayers are just a formality.

자신들이 누리고 싶은 탐욕의 목록만을 반복하고 있죠.
They are just busy repeating the prayer request list of worldly desires.

하나님의 이름을 부르라는 말씀은, 성경 곳곳에 널려있습니다.
Bible demands us to call out to the Lord in many passages.

간절히 하나님을 찾으며 그의 얼굴을 구하고 성령의 내주를 간구하라고 명령하고 있습니다.
It tells us to look for God with deperation and ask for the Holy Spirit to dwell in us.

그러나 이런 기도는 습관이 필요하며, 습관을 들이기 위해서는 훈련해야하지 않겠습니까?
But this kind of prayer needs training and repetition, and shouldn't we practice, in order to grow a habit out of praying?

왜 하나님의 이름을 쉬지않고 부르는 습관은 훈련이 필요한지 아십니까?
Why do you need to practice praying and calling God without stopping?

하나님을 부르는 기도는 악한 영들이 공격하기 때문입니다.
Prayer calling out to the Lord will draw evil spirits to attack.

귀신들은 다른 기도에는 아무 반응을 보이지 않지만 하나님을 부르는 기도에는 놀라서 도망치거나 공격하기 시작합니다.
Spirits don't react to other prayers, but they start running away or attacking the person who prays and calls out to God.

공격의 양상은 다양하지만 잡념이나 부정적인 생각을 넣어주어 기도의 집중을 방해하고 몸의 곳곳을 아프게 하거나 가렵게 하고...
There are many different ways spirits attack. They distract us by putting in different thoughts into our heads, hurt us and make our body itchy here and there...

뭐, 예전에 앓았던 고질병이 도지게 하거나 사건사고를 일으키거나 가족이가 직장상사들을 부추겨서 기도를 못하게 하는 이런 공격이 아주 집요하게 시작되죠.
Or have the old injuries come back, cause accidents, stop us from praying through our family members and friends... There will be a lot of them coming your way.

그런 악한 영들과 피터지게 싸우려면 영적 능력을 기르고 내공을 쌓으면서 기도해야 합니다.
And in order to fight against all the evil spirits, you need to pray; you need to pray and train yourselves to have spiritual abilities.

말하자면, 기도의 용사가 되어야한다는 말이죠.
It means that you need to become a warrior of prayer.

용사는 싸움을 잘하는 군인입니다.
A warrior is a soldier that has great skills in fighting.

그럼으로 훈련되지 않은 군인은 군복을 입었을 뿐이지 민간인과 다름이 없을 것입니다.
A soldier without proper training is just a ordinary person in a military uniform.

그래서 성경적인 기도는 훈련이 꼭 필요합니다.
So you do need proper training and practice to pray biblically.

그러나 아쉽게도, 우리네 교회는 형식적이고 희생적인 기도의 행위를 요구하고 있지만, 정작 성경적인 기도를 훈련시키는 데는 별로 없습니다.
Unfortunately, church today asks us for a formal, sacrificial act of praying (as in attending church worship and meetings) but it doesn't teach us how to pray properly.

그래서 우리네 주변에 성령의 능력을 보여주는 교회를 별로 찾아보기 힘든 이유입니다.
And so it is really hard to find a church with real super power given by Holy Spirit.

성경의 위인들은 예외없이 놀라운 기적과 이적으로 하나님의 능력을 드러내고 잇죠.
Characters in the Bible show amazing abilities and perform miracles, and they are all given by God.

그러나 우리네 교회는 형식적인 예배의식과 희생적인 신앙행위만을 반복하고 있을 뿐입니다.
But the church today just has us repeating a system of worship and asks us to follow with everything we've got.

뭐, 귀신들린 사람을 교회에 데려오면 손사례를 치면서 문을 닫아 걸고, 정신병자를 데려오면 친절하게 정신병원을 소개시켜주고 있습니다.
Church shuns people possesed by demons, and sends people out to psychiatrists when they come for help for mental disorders.

그러니 이렇게 무능한 교회의 지도자들이 가르치는 교회의 교인들이 그런 삶의 문제가 생기면 기도자리에 앉기나 하겠습니까?
How are the church people even going to think about properly praying to God for their troubles, if the only thing church shows is the powerlessness?

그럼으로 지금부터라도 성경적인 기도방식이 습관들이도록 훈련시켜야합니다.
You should train yourself to practice the proper way of praying.

여러분이 다니는 교회에서 이런 기도를 훈련시키지 않는다면 스스로 성경을 뒤져가며 훈련해야합니다.
If your church doesn't teach you, you need to find it in the Bible and train for yourself.

왜냐하면 천국은 대형교회에서 단체버스로 가는 곳이 아니라 개개인 각자의 신앙의 성적표로 가는 곳이기 때문입니다.
Heaven is not a place you go as your church picnic; it is the place to go if and only if your faith pleases God.

여러분이 쉬지 않고 하나님을 부르는 기도의 습관이 들이지 않았다면 천국은 꿈도 꾸지 마시기 바랍니다.
So don't even think about going to Heaven if you don't pray constantly, calling out to the Lord.

쉬지않고 기도하는 게 하나님의 명령이기 때문입니다.
Because he demands us to pray without ceasing.

하나님의 명령을 무시하는 사람이 어떻게 천국의 백성이 되겠습니까?
How can you become a citizen of Heaven, if you ignore and not listen to what God has told you to do?
