ABOUT MINISTRY LEADERSHIP

"DO NOT HURRY TO LAY HANDS ON ANYONE [ordaining and approving someone for ministry or an office in the church, or in reinstating expelled offenders], AND THEREBY SHARE IN THE SINS OF OTHERS; KEEP YOURSELF FREE FROM SINS.”
1 Timothy 5:22 (Amp.)

The above passage was written by Paul, an experienced Apostle, to Timothy a young pastor who was facing a heavy responsibility in the church of Ephesus.
A leader should be careful and sensitive about whoever would be appointed to leadership position, or ordained for ministry work. Laying hands arbitrarily without prayer and proper consideration can make a leader choose or appoint someone who may not be qualified for the ministry work (1 Timothy 3:10). READ: 1 Timothy 3:1-13

Note:
• Favouritism and prejudice should not be allowed in choosing a church leader, but due process must be followed: “I CHARGE YOU BEFORE GOD AND THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND THE ELECT [chosen] ANGELS THAT YOU OBSERVE THESE THINGS WITHOUT PREJUDICE, DOING NOTHING WITH PARTIALITY” (1 Timothy 5:21 NKJV).
• In the area of discipline, in correcting whoever has done wrong in the church, a leader should not be partial in meting out the necessary discipline to whoever rebelled or did wrong (1 Timothy 5:20).
• In addition to it, a leader should not allow clique or segregation in the church: “THERE IS NEITHER JEW NOR GREEK, THERE IS NEITHER SLAVE NOR FREE, THERE IS NEITHER MALE NOR FEMALE; FOR YOU ARE ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS" (Galatians 3:28 NKJV).
READ: Romans 10:12; Colossians 3:11
If segregation—prejudice or onesidedness or marginalization—will not happen in the gathering of believers, the leader has to set the standard; by being a good example in receiving all kinds of people, race, colour or ethnic origin (Galatians 2:11-13).
Church leadership is different from political leadership; it is about showing love and care, leading the people of God by the principles of the Bible:
2 SHEPHERD THE FLOCK OF GOD WHICH IS AMONG YOU, SERVING AS OVERSEERS, NOT BY COMPULSION BUT WILLINGLY, NOT FOR DISHONEST GAIN BUT EAGERLY; 3 NOR AS BEING LORDS OVER THOSE ENTRUSTED TO YOU, BUT BEING EXAMPLES TO THE FLOCK" (1 Peter 5:2,3 NKJV).

7 IN ALL THINGS SHOWING YOURSELF [as a leader] TO BE A PATTERN OF GOOD WORKS; IN DOCTRINE SHOWING INTEGRITY, REVERENCE, INCORRUPTIBILITY,
8 SOUND SPEECH THAT CANNOT BE CONDEMNED, THAT ONE WHO IS AN OPPONENT MAY BE ASHAMED, HAVING NOTHING EVIL TO SAY OF YOU.”
Titus 2:7,8 (NKJV)

Your hands would be strengthened in doing the work in Jesus' name. Peace!
