FELLOWSHIPPING WITH GOD THE FATHER 1
8 WATCH OUT THAT YOU DO NOT LOSE WHAT WE HAVE WORKED SO HARD TO ACHIEVE. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward.
9 ANYONE WHO WANDERS AWAY FROM THIS TEACHING HAS NO RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. BUT ANYONE WHO REMAINS IN THE TEACHING OF CHRIST HAS A RELATIONSHIP WITH BOTH THE FATHER AND THE SON."
2 John 8,9 (NLT)
• A relationship that is deficient of communion or fellowship cannot produce maximally.
- The heart cry of God the Father is communion or fellowship with those who are His.
- The purpose of reconciliation, why humans are reconciled to God, is communion or fellowship (2 Corinthians 5:18,19).
- When talking about serving God and being a vessel in His hands, it is about fellowship or communion primarily.
• Dialogue
- In the place of fellowship, you talk things out with God.
- You discuss about His work that is committed to your hand.
- You bring the needs of others to Him; your loved ones, acquaintances, and whoever, and He gives you His Word on them, whether He would do or not. If He would not, why He would not might be communicated to you or not.
- You talk things over with God, about your present and the future.
- Note: whatever God told you in the time or place of fellowship with Him is authentic and reliable.
- You can stick your life to whatever you heard from Him in the place of communion or fellowship. The reason being that, He is too faithful to lie, and He cannot mismanage your life and destiny (Numbers 23:19; 1 Kings 8:56).
• The truth is: communion or fellowship is the foundation of faith.
- If you found or saw someone whose faith is weak, it thus mean the fellowship of such a believer with God has been broken, or it is at a low ebb—a state of decline.
- A believer's Joy cannot be made full without a full and qualitative fellowship with God.
- You cannot walk in love without a fellowship with Him. To walk in love is to walk in fellowship with Him.
To live the love life, is to live the fellowshipping life. - A rich prayer life depends on fellowship, communion with God. As a believer, your life cannot be built up without Prayer, and a real prayer life is based on communion—fellowshipping with God.
- There cannot be a growth in knowledge, faith, grace, and Joy of fulfilment; with a broken fellowship.
- Every person, a believer in Christ Jesus, who has lost power with God; has lost it through the loss of fellowship or communion.
• Relationship and fellowship
I. What is relationship
- God through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ reconciled or reharmonized man back to Himself (2 Corinthians 5:17-21).
- Humans legally become His children, partakers of His nature, genuine heirs and joint heirs with Christ Jesus (Romans 8:17).
- Through repentance, believing in the heart and confession with the mouth, you become saved—a born-again believer (Romans 10:9,10).
YOU establish a relationship with God through salvation; by being saved through grace and faith in Christ Jesus. - After being reconciled to God, you have to live in holiness (1 Peter 1:15,16). You live your life for Jesus Christ, to appreciate and honour Him for what He has done for you (2 Corinthians 5:15; 1 Peter 4:1,2).
- Believers in Christ Jesus are not living holy to be saved, or be justified, or be accepted or made right with God. But they are saved, justified, to live right or holy (Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 2:8-10).
- God wants whoever belongs to Him, be able to stand before Him in His presence without any consciousness of sinful guiltness.
- To establish a fellowship or communion with God the Father, you have to live in holiness:
15 BUT AS HE WHO CALLED YOU IS HOLY, YOU ALSO BE HOLY IN ALL YOUR CONDUCT, 16 BECAUSE IT IS WRITTEN, “BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY” (1 Peter 1:15,16 NKJV).
II. What is fellowship:
- Fellowship is about sharing together. It is also about partnership.
- It is about being under the same burden, as one.
- Believers' fellowship with God the Father is based on our relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. Without salvation through faith in the substitutionary death and resurrection of Christ Jesus, there cannot be a relationship, which afterwards produces a fellowship with God the Father (Romans 4:25; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21).
- It is the unlimited fellowship with God the Father and one another believers that brings the richest and deepest Joy and fulfilment into the life of a believer.
- We are called into fellowship with the Son, Jesus Christ, and that with the Father:
20 “I [Jesus] AM NOT PRAYING FOR THESE [the twelve Disciples] ALONE BUT ALSO FOR THE FUTURE BELIEVERS WHO WILL COME TO ME BECAUSE OF THE TESTIMONY OF THESE. 21 MY PRAYER FOR ALL OF THEM IS THAT THEY WILL BE OF ONE HEART AND MIND, JUST AS YOU AND I ARE, FATHER—THAT JUST AS YOU ARE IN ME AND I AM IN YOU, SO THEY WILL BE IN US, AND THE WORLD WILL BELIEVE YOU SENT ME. 22 “I HAVE GIVEN THEM THE GLORY YOU GAVE ME—THE GLORIOUS UNITY OF BEING ONE, AS WE ARE— 23 I IN THEM AND YOU IN ME, ALL BEING PERFECTED INTO ONE—SO THAT THE WORLD WILL KNOW YOU SENT ME AND WILL UNDERSTAND THAT YOU LOVE THEM AS MUCH AS YOU LOVE ME" (John 17:20,21 the Living Bible). - We are to bear the burden of Jesus by bringing the lost world to the knowledge of the truth:
19 FOR GOD WAS IN CHRIST, RECONCILING THE WORLD TO HIMSELF, NO LONGER COUNTING PEOPLE'S SINS AGAINST THEM. AND HE GAVE US THIS WONDERFUL MESSAGE OF RECONCILIATION. 20 SO WE ARE CHRIST'S AMBASSADORS; GOD IS MAKING HIS APPEAL THROUGH US. WE SPEAK FOR CHRIST WHEN WE PLEAD, “COME BACK TO GOD!” (2 Corinthians 5:19,20 NLT). - We are in fellowship with Jesus, when we witness to others, support the work of the Kingdom with money and prayer (Luke 8:1-3).
- Note:
a. When you serve God's interest, you are serving and fellowshipping with Him.
b. When God's passion and thought is your passion and thought; you are in a fellowship with Him—God.
c. Fellowship equally means Giving of your substance—resources.
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
- Should there be any ailment in your body as you read this piece, I declare your healing now in Jesus' mighty name.
- Whatever is not planted in your body by God that is working against your health and wellness is uprooted completely in Jesus' mighty name.
Peace!
