“NOW, O LORD MY GOD, You have made your servant King, instead of my father David, BUT I AM A LITTLE CHILD; I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO GO OUT OR COME IN.”
1 Kings 3:7 (NKJV)

READ: Romans 15:4; 1 Corinthians 10:11; 2 Timothy 3:16

Since all the things that happened in the Old Testament serve as examples, and they were written for our learning and admonitions: “FOR WHATEVER THINGS WERE WRITTEN BEFORE WERE WRITTEN FOR OUR LEARNING, THAT WE THROUGH PATIENCE [perseverance] AND COMFORT OF THE SCRIPTURES MIGHT HAVE HOPE" (Romans 15:4 NKJV).

READ: 1 Corinthians 10:11; 2 Timothy 3:16,17

In reiteration, we can learn a number of things from the passage:
• We should love God with the whole of our heart (Mark 12:30; 1 Kings 3:3).
• We should lean on God and not on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-7).
• Put aside your wisdom and embrace God’s (Proverbs 3:5,6; 1 Corinthians 1:19,20). Even if you know what to do about the matter at hand, you would still need to ask God for His wisdom on how to do it.
• Remember, you need to carry God along in your resolve, since nothing can be done without Him (John 15:4,5). That is the essence of the Holy Spirit on the inside of us as believers (John 16:13-15).
• Prayer against your enemies is not as important as striving to please God; reverence Him, do His will, and being mindful of His kingdom. If you love God, acknowledge Him, reverence Him and please Him, He will take care of your enemies.
• Solomon had rest in his kingdom; he had peace during His reign because He acknowledged God and reverence Him: “BUT NOW THE LORD MY GOD HAS GIVEN ME REST [peace] ON EVERY SIDE; THERE IS NEITHER ADVERSARY NOR EVIL OCCURRENCE [misfortune]" (1 Kings 5:4 NKJV).
READ: 1 Kings 4:24

• Solomon told God, he was but a child, that he does not know how to conduct business as a king (1 Kings 3:7).
• If you know how to fight, conduct business, God will support you as much as He can because you belong to Him—you are His child.
• However, if you acknowledge your weakness, that you do not know how to fight neither do you know how to conduct business, then He can help you fully.
• What you allow God to do, that exactly He will do. If you wanted Him to do things for you, you want Him to use you as a front, He will. Though, I do not mean that you should be laid-back or lazy.
• And also if you want to do it by yourself, you only ask for God's support, He will allow you and support you to some extent.
An example: David was a warrior, God supported Him and fought his battles with him. However Solomon said, he was a child, he does not know how to fight, how to conduct business as a king. God gave Him rest, he was not exposed to battles.

Admonition
• Why are you trying to get things done through your human efforts? (1Samuel 2:9).
• Why did you choose not to go to God for help?
• You will do well to humble yourself and go to Him for help? (Hebrews 4:15,16)
• He is the present help in the time of trouble (Psalm 46:1).

15 FOR WE DO NOT HAVE A HIGH PRIEST WHO CANNOT SYMPATHISE WITH OUR WEAKNESSES, BUT WAS IN ALL POINTS TEMPTED AS WE ARE, YET WITHOUT SIN.
16 LET US THEREFORE COME BOLDLY TO THE THRONE OF GRACE, THAT WE MAY OBTAIIN MERCY AND FIND GRACE TO HELP IN THE TIME OF NEED.”
Hebrews 4:15,16 (NKJV)

Note:
If you are tough, rigid and refused to acknowledge God, you will always meet resistance in your endeavours (James 4:6; 1 Peter 5:5).
Thus, be flexible and bendy, and allow God to have His way in your life.

Prayer
I command rest in every area of your life in Jesus’ mighty name.
Every wind of affliction in your life is rebuked in the mighty name of Jesus.
Peace.
