YOU CAN MAKE IT 2
"BUT AS IT IS WRITTEN: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man THE THINGS WHICH GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM.”
1 Corinthians 2:9 (NKJV)
• A carnal minded believer, apart from a natural person or an unbeliever, would equally not discover the plan.
- Someone who is born again but is carnally minded (1 Corinthians 3:1), having a dirty mind (Romans 1:28), and he or she does nothing about it (Romans 12:2); It might be difficult for such to discover God's plan for his or her life.
- Such is having a natural mind, a dead mind, that could not hear nor see: "SO LETTING YOUR SINFUL NATURE CONTROL YOUR MIND [your thoughts] LEADS TO DEATH. BUT LETTING THE SPIRIT CONTROL YOUR MIND LEADS TO LIFE AND PEACE" (Romans 8:6 NLT).
- A believer's spirit is regenerated or reborn at new birth (2 Corinthians 5:17), but the flesh or body and the mind are still not changed (Romans 12:1,2; James 1:21).
- Your mind had to be washed or transformed through the knowledge of the Word of God because it is still reprobative or depraved—dirty or morally corupt: "AND EVEN AS THEY REFUSED TO HAVE GOD IN THEIR KNOWLEDGE, GOD GAVE THEM UP UNTO A REPROBATE MIND, TO DO THOSE THINGS WHICH ARE NOT FITTING" (Romans 1:28 — American Standard Version).
• A reprobative mind is an untransformed mind which a newly reborn believer has a responsibility to work on by being receptive to the knowledge of the Word of God—the Bible (Romans 12:2; James 1:21).
Whilst the reborn or the salvation of the inward man, the human spirit, is done by the Holy Spirit at new birth, but the salvation of the soul or mind is done through the knowledge of the Word of God, with the cooperation of the believer concerned: "SO GET RID OF ALL THAT IS WRONG IN YOUR LIFE, BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE, AND HUMBLY BE GLAD FOR THE WONDERFUL MESSAGE WE HAVE RECEIVED, FOR IT IS ABLE TO SAVE OUR SOULS AS IT TAKES HOLD OF OUR HEARTS" (James 1:21 the Living Bible).
- The getting rid of all that is wrong had to be done by the believer through the reading and studying and the application or practice of the Word of God, the Bible.
• When your mind is renewed, your thinking is changed, and you begin to see things in God's point of view.
- Praying scriptural prayers will further enhance the enlightenment of your mind:
17 I PRAY TO THE GOD OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. GOD IS THE GLORIOUS FATHER. I KEEP ASKING HIM TO GIVE YOU THE WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING THAT COME FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT. I WANT YOU TO KNOW GOD BETTER. 18 I ALSO PRAY THAT YOUR MIND MIGHT SEE MORE CLEARLY. THEN YOU WILL KNOW THE HOPE GOD HAS CHOSEN YOU TO RECEIVE. YOU WILL KNOW THAT THE THINGS GOD'S PEOPLE WILL RECEIVE ARE RICH AND GLORIOUS" (Ephesians 1:17–18 — New International Reader’s Version). - Through these Scriptural prayers your mind would be opened to receive or know the things which God has purposed to do with your life.
- Apostle Paul who was praying the prayers for the Ephesian believers knew If their eyes of understanding, their minds, were not enlightened or flooded with light; they would not be able to see what God had in plan for them.
- A believer who's mind is closed or untransformed, who reasons not like God, or sees not in God's point of view, would not be able to see or discover whatever God had purposed for him or her. The thinking of such a person would be far different from that of God and would not understand whatever God is trying to do with or through his or her life (1 Corinthians 2:12-14).
• God's thought or thinking pattern is completely different from that of man, humans (Isaiah 55:8,9); thus, a change or transformation of the mind had to be done for a person or believer to be able to reason or think in line with that of God.
- A believer's mind that is not transformed or enlightened in line with God's Word, the Bible, cannot but think or reason in line with what he or she sees around them in the world (1 John 2:15-17).
- It takes someone who's mind is transformed, or had the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16), to reason differently from the people of the world and those who are fleshly or carnal.
- A believer who's mind is not transformed or enlightened would not be able to see farther than the people around him or her; such would not be able to discern or see beyond the physical realm—everything about him or her would be limited to their senses; what they could see, feel, touch, hear, or taste. Anything apart from these they would not be able to decipher or have a clear idea or interpret the meaning!
