The Google Drive
Save time with keyboard shortcuts
If you use Drive on your computer, keyboard shortcuts will help you create, move, and organise files within Drive without using your mouse. Some of the most useful are Shift + t to create a new document; Shift + s for spreadsheets; Shift + p for a new presentation; Shift + f for a new folder... It's also useful to know that Control + z moves files, Control + n renames them, and Control + . opens the actions menu. The Google Drive help centre page details all the combinations and their uses, as well as whether they work with Chrome, Windows or Mac computers.
Three extra tips
In addition to these features, there are some additional useful tips. For example, you can check the version history to see who has made changes (and what they are) or restore a document to a previous state from ‘File > Version history’; change the colour of folders to make them easier to find at a glance (right-click > ‘Change colour’); and scan documents from your mobile if you use an Android smartphone, where the ‘Scan’ option converts photos into PDFs stored directly in Drive.
