Today I have gone to one of the most popular ferry terminals in Narayanganj city; its name is Nobiganj Ferry Terminal. This is a terminal where people, buses, trucks, goods, and everything are taken from one side to the other. Bangladesh is a riverine country; the Shitalakshya River flows through the heart of Narayanganj, and this terminal is located next to this river. Narayanganj is a commercial area, so many goods go to different places through this river through the terminal.

This is not only a terminal but also an important means of communication by water. Along with roads and railways, waterways are also an integral part of people's lives. It is a place of transportation as well as a vibrant centre deeply involved in the economy, culture and daily life of people.

The environment of the ferry terminal is very busy; the flow of passengers starts at this ferry terminal from early morning. Some are going to work, some are returning to their villages, and some are crossing the river with goods for business purposes. If you stand at the ghat, you can see buses, trucks, private cars, and motorcycles waiting in a row to board the ferry. There is a beautiful seating arrangement here where you can sit and wait for the ferry. These seating areas are provided by the government, and the open seating area at the ferry terminal on the river is very beautiful.

This terminal is not only a place of transportation; it is also a small economic centre. Small shops, hotels, tea stalls, and fruit shops have been built next to the terminal. The livelihood of many local people depends on this terminal-centred business. Passengers waiting for the ferry buy tea, snacks, or various essential items and sit and enjoy tea at the seating area. As a result, the ghat area is always lively. I also enjoyed black tea there. The terminal operates from 6 am to 6 pm.

There are police here for security. Where there is a problem, they solve it. Since there are law enforcement officers, there is no such problem here; everyone can travel smoothly.

To me, this Nobiganj Ferry Terminal means a meeting point of busyness, the beauty of the river and the stories of people, where, when you stand, you can see the real picture of the city – hardship, hard work, hopes and dreams all mixed together. As an important part of Narayanganj, this terminal is playing a big role in our communication system.

There are 2 ferries in this terminal, which run one after the other. Because of this, it has become a good service for people; they can easily move heavy goods and vehicles across.

I have chosen this terminal because it has become very important for the city; the river has become a major transportation hub for the city, and to transport goods and merchandise from one side of the river to the other, you have to travel 8 kilometres, but with this terminal, it is possible to transport goods and merchandise to the other side in just 5 minutes. This facility also brings good benefits to the country's economy.

Since Narayanganj city is a business hub, thousands of people and hundreds of vehicles cross this ferry every day.
