Dinajpur Government College is an ancient and traditional educational institution of Dinajpur district known as the gateway to North Bengal. Built on the banks of the Punarbhava river, this college is recognized not only by the people of the northern region, but also as one of the best centers of higher education in the country. Its sprawling green campus and historic architecture impress any visitor at first glance. Started in 1942 with a great vow to spread the light of education, this institution today shines in its glory.

The historical background of this college is quite rich and significant. During the British rule, this institution stood up in return for the collective efforts and sacrifices of local industrialists. When higher education opportunities were very limited in the region before partition, this college emerged as a beacon of hope for the local people. Later, during the Pakistan era and the independence war of Bangladesh, the glorious role of the teachers and students of this college is written in golden letters on the pages of history.
