This cabochon of the San Juan archipelago, offers a wide variety of fun adventures ranging from hiking, swimming ,cycling and a host of other enjoyable activities.

In this post I'm going to highlight 7 of the most fun-filled activities to do in Orchas Island...and with that said, here they are;

1.Hiking

Among the 172 San Juan Islands, Orchas is the best as far as hiking is concerned. During your visit to Orchas, you might want to consider going on a hike. The island is blessed with many trails that are widely varied from one another. From big views to old growth forest to waterfalls and lakes/beaches, this island has at trail for everyone.

In addition to that, there are almost always few people on a hike, yes, even during summertime ,which means you get to enjoy your hiking experience all the more.

2.Swimming in Cascade Lake or Mountain Lake

If you enjoy swimming then you must consider visiting the most popular lake in Moran State Park, Cascade Lake. The water is reasonably clear and reasonably free. On a sunny day, the lake is perfect for a swim.
You can also bring kayaks or rent them when you visit the park as well as have a picnic when you visit. There are plenty of grills and tables to have a whole day of fun.

3.Go whale watching

Orchas island is one of the most dependable place to go and see whales in the continental United States. One of the most popular tourist attractions on the island is the opportunity to see the distinctive white and blue killer whales up close.

4.Chase water falls

If you'd like to or have always wanted to stand behind a waterfall, this is your chance!
40 feet high and arguably the most beautiful in all the archipelago of San Juan, Cascade Waterfalls is the tallest waterfall and that qualifies it be ranked among the main places to visit in Orchas. The waterfall connects to a beautiful creek and flows through antediluvian cedar trees.
Cascade Falls is in my opinion, is the best place for families to visit on the isle, for the simple fact that there is plenty of space for kids to play and ideally for the whole family to bond...not to mention, there're plenty of auld rocks, trees and logs to be discovered.

5.Cycling/biking

If you're into mountain biking, I can almost guarantee that you will like the hilly terrain in Orchas Island. However if you intend on making the most out of your biking experience in Orchas, I would suggest you visit the island between May and September. This is because, during this period, Moran State Park opens it's hiking trails for bikers to enjoy.

6.Wine tasting

To all the oenophiles visiting or planning to visit Orchas, be sure to visit Orchas Island Winery located on the west side of the island. Established in 2011, the winery offers offers a modern farm house tasting room to sample the wines and a wonderful wine garden experience for you and your fellow tourists.
All you need to do is seat back and treat yourself to a fancy and elegant wine tasting in the cozy tasting room. Alternatively you may head outside for a picnic and still enjoy your wine there. The wines on offer include reds, rosés, and whites.

7.Go to the golf course

Evidently, there are plenty of fun-filled activities for you to have the time of your life during your stay in Orchas. Not to mention the fact that, unlike some vacation spots in the United States, what makes Orcas stand out is the fact that once you're there, you can't help but feel as though you are part of the community. Only thing left to decide is when are you visiting Orchas?

Hi @manuelking001,

I believe you are writing from the perspective of an armchair traveler and not from first hand knowledge.

I also believe the photos used are not actual photos taken in Orcas and were taken at various other locations.

Although your effort is commendable it would have been better if you had used photos of the actual location.

Your attribution format is also good but would have been better if you had followed this format:

"People Sitting on a Cloth Drinking and Eating Pizza" by RODNAE Productions on Pexels, which would have saved me time checking on its authenticity since on the face of it the word "Pexels" is written. This attribution format is also closer to the format recommended by Creative Commons License.
