Coffee is a drink that is very popular in our country and even throughout the world, especially for those who are addicted to cigarettes, it doesn't taste good if it is not accompanied by coffee. We get a lot of coffee shops in our country, especially in Aceh, which is dubbed the "land of a thousand coffee shops". And that title is very true, because if we cross the Medan Banda Aceh road, we will see a lot of coffee shops from classic to modern levels. And it is filled with ordinary people, students, students and even officials
We see a lot of comments from coffee addicts who think that coffee can make our brains fresh and so on. In fact, we can see Ibn Hajar Al-Haitami's comments about coffee as follows:

اعلم ايها القلب المكروب القهوة لها اهل الصفاء لبة للأسرار للأكدار

Meaning: "Then, know, O restless hearts, that this coffee has been made by Experts of Shofwah (Those who are clean in heart) as an invitation to the coming of God's secret, as well as an eraser of trouble." In the date of Ibn Toyyib it is said:

اقهوةتذهبهمالفتى #
انتلحاوىالعلمنعمالمراد اباهلاللهفيهالشفا # لطالبالحكمةبينالعباد االلهعلىجاهل

لبحرمتهابالعناد

Meaning: "Coffee is the remover of youth troubles, the pleasures of desire for those of you who are seeking knowledge. Coffee is a drink of people close to Allah that contains healing for those who seek wisdom among humans. Coffee is forbidden for stupid people and stubbornly says its haram."
In the history of Islamic civilization, it is stated that coffee was only known in the 15th century AD. Even ibn Hajar Al-Haitami mentions in his book Syarah al-Ubab that coffee appeared at the beginning of the 10th century Hijriyah. But at that time there was a fierce debate between the scholars about the halalness of coffee and even among the scholars who forbade coffee even this opinion was spread throughout the Islamic lands. This debate continued until the time of the Ottoman dynasty. Surprisingly, Ibn Hajar al-Haitami was almost killed because of the fatwa on the halalness of coffee at that time.
Shaykh Muhammad bin Sulaiman al-Kurdi in his book al-Fawaid al-Madaniyyah briefly narrates the incident: that Ibn Hajar al-Haitami was invited to a wedding party held in Mecca around 950 Hijriyah. And as usual, the invited guests were served coffee to drink as usual. Suddenly some of the muftis of Makkah said: "Coffee is haram, intoxicating, unclean, worse than wine." Ibn Hajar who was present at that time immediately responded at length: "
May Allah protect this Qadhi from blind fanaticism which is never said by market workers, let alone come from someone who has the advantage of being a mufti and who has spent his life teaching and giving fatwas for 50 years in Makkah city the honorable and in front of the great scholars from various schools who came to Mecca. So how can a statement like this come from you, when it's clearly not like that???" When the event was over, Qadi immediately left in anger and went to find someone who could help him.
It turned out that in Mecca there was an authorized person who came from the Ottoman empire. Then the Qadi had met him and said: "People like you just sit back in this country, while Abu Hanifa (his opinion) is being reproached in the assemblies, and he does not find anyone to help him?" The Qadi had mentioned the scene and he kept this lie a secret. So when he heard this, the one who had the authority immediately took a sword to kill Ibn Hajar. The fake news reached Ibn Hajar's ears even though the words never came out of his mouth. He only said: "Your sect gives leeway to nabiz (milk from other than wine), so how about affirmation on the issue of coffee?" At the end of the story, the Qadhi was aware and converted. Talking about him, Ibn Hajar said: "I passed the road that was occupied by Qadi earlier, so when I passed him he got up and kissed my hand as usual, and I did not see any badness from him, all these events were the result of blind fanatic reproaches for him. opinions and sects with falsehood. So from what happened earlier, we can see that there is no victory for blind fanatics." That's all wallahua'lam.
