This afternoon was quite ordinary. I had no special plans and no big hopes. I picked up the phone to get some peace after the day's work. That's when I thought I'd play the Steam retro game again today. This game is not just a way to pass the time for me, it's a small test of my patience, attention and fighting with myself.
When I started playing, I didn't have a goal for the score. Because I know that many people score 2000 in this game, some 1500. I have accepted the fact that I can't do that.
I managed to score the highest score of 1000. Still, I sit down to play every time. Because somewhere inside, there is still hope. Everything seemed easy at the beginning of the game, it was gradually increasing. My concentration was also fine, but I know from experience that at some point the pressure increases. I make mistakes even when I blink my eyes and today was no exception.
Still, I didn't let myself stop. When the score crossed 600, what kind of feeling was there in my chest? It was not joy, but fear, but a silent excitement. I knew that it could all end at any moment from here.
Still, I kept trying, and in the end, today's highest score was 671. Maybe for many, this is a very small number, but for me, it is a testament to today's effort. Today, I did not give up, this is my biggest achievement. After finishing the game, I kept my phone aside and sat quietly for a while.
One thing kept running through my mind: I will try harder. Maybe tomorrow, maybe some other day, I will be able to surpass my limits even a little. Today did not give me a big win, but it gave me a promise that I will not give up as long as I play. No matter how small today is, this effort is the most precious to me.

I also appreciate the fact that you described how you picked up your phone after a typical day to have some peace of mind rather than to get big scores. I could really relate to that section.
Your attitude towards the release of your mindset was strong. You have already acknowledged the fact that you cannot easily score 1500 or 2000, but you still take a seat to play every time. A figure of 1000 in the past and 671 to-day may be small to some, but I well know the rationale in it to you. I can even feel the tension, when you told me about the fear and silent excitement when you crossed 600.
The greatest thing I learned in your post, samima1, is that it is not about numbers, but not giving up. I like the fact that you mentioned that the effort that is in the present is more an asset than a big win.
