What kind of strange fruit is this?
Kiwanos! Strange fruit indeed, with a spiky yellow to yellow orange exterior and an unexpected green interior. Just when I thought I knew my fruits and veggies, I come across a new one to love. This one tastes somewhat like a kiwi, or maybe a cucumber, and um, a little like a banana. Well, it's honestly hard to describe! But, it definitely looks like a defensive yellow blowfish. In fact:

Actually, I got them from @papa-pepper. Not sure where he found them! I plan on planting a few in our garden this year.

Ohhhh, this is an unusual one... Here, in Malaysia, we have some oddballs but this, I've not seen! African Horned Cucumber - hehe, I like that! :D
Yes, I just love the look of it. And, it does grow in the southern U.S. I'll try it this year just for fun :) I bet you have many varieties of fruits and veggies over there I've never seen.
They look like giant virus cells. Are they easy enough to cut open?
They are actually. Much easier than, say, a overripe crooked yellow neck squash.
