In Which the Stained Glass Paints the Walls Purple
One of the things I love most about stained glass in gothic cathedrals is the way the light streaming through the stained glass will "paint" the stonework all sorts of amazing colors! That happened when I visited St. John the Divine Cathedral in New York City.
I'd love to visit this cathedral again and get more photos! Please consider joining us on Patreon to be a part of this ongoing mission to capture beautiful holy places throughout the world!

this has got to be one of my favorite things ever, especially when all the lights are off. If you want to see a very good example you should check out the church on the campus of Princeton University.
That one is already on my list! Thank you for the reminder. :-)
Wonderful photo and arthistic too... is it the stained glass really purple or it's a reflection because of the light from the lamp @laurabellamy? It is amazingly beautiful
The stained glass really did paint the walls purple like that, the colors were a mix of blues and reds, and the way the light shines through them, it creates a neat sense of color.
Awesome 👏👏 thank you @laurabelly for the information. Red blue is purple and lovely
