Glorious Red Flowers in Monday Red Color Challenge

The above flower is a dahlia that I now really want to plant in my yard since I photographed it at The Dallas Arboretum. I just love the details of the flower with lots of petals and the striking yellow center. It's grown from tubers and is a perennial.

The above is a zinnia. This flower dies completely back and reseeds itself or you must sow new seeds each year. It is a great flower for butterflies.

The above is a poinsettia flower. I like the way the sun was on some of the petals. This is a favorite flower in the USA to have for Christmas. This plant will freeze if left outside. I have a large poinsettia plant that has been outside all spring and summer. I am hoping will turn red in time for Christmas!

The above is red sage. I have had it in my yard many years. It dies back but reseeds itself. I have taken seed heads in my yard and shaken them in sunny places that I want some for the next year and they show up all on their own.

And of course I have to include a photo of some beautiful red roses. This is one from a rose plant called a Double Knockout Rose. Some of these roses have been affected with a disease called Rose Rosette disease and the rose growers aren't sure how to get rid of the virus that is causing the disease. Perhaps we need healthier soil!
