If a few years ago you were complaining about conservative students being cancelled and not having free speech rights but do not care about defending the free speech rights of the pro-Palestinian protestors then you never were about free speech. You were about pushing political conservatism.

On the other hand, if a few years ago you were telling conservative students that freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences but now are complaining about pro-Palestinian protestors getting suspended for anti-Semitic rhetoric then you never were about the idea that troubling speech can be punished. You were about pushing political progressivism.
