In theory the elephant is so powerful and can easily wrap this up. But since the arena is partially flooded and the gator can hold it's breath under water for about 15 mins.
The gator comes out every now and then and strikes the elephant and gets back into the water. He injures the elephant with each strike and finally kills it.
