Experience - The difference between Low ⬇️ and High 🔝 Nr of Years
Hello Stemians 👋
An interesting topic i want to discuss about today is: Does Experience (nr of years) matter in the Software Development Industry?
Personally i think that there are two sides of this and like in any other discussion, it has its pros and cons. Also some people would agree and some woud disagree.
I know a lot of people that say that the experience shouldn’t be the main reason when you try to hire someone (a developer, designer, tech...), but it is their knowledge that should matter.
Most of intervies today focus on testing:
- 🔹 Software Fundamentals
- 🔹 Algorithms concept
- 🔹 Abilty to solve problems
- 🔹 Programming Principles
But, also this is not true every time for every company. Not all the companies focus on testing when they hire someone.
Also, personally i think that the Experience matters, the nr of years matter, but in order to matter it should be linked to what you were doing those years. Because you could have work a lot of years but doing nothing special. Just the same thing every day, the same monotony and nothing related to expanding your knowledge as it should.
✔️ Some companies would say: Hey, Work Experience matters a lot for us
✔️ And some other companies would say: Experience doesn’t result in developing better software.
But, how can you solve faster bugs, give complex problem solutions, and fix problems if you haven’t worked a lot with with them before?
Having said all of that, i am a big fan of programming and complex testing during the interview but i also I would preffer people with a experience in complex problem for a advanced job position.
Have your say, friends
Greetings,
Gianni
