Buying and Selling with Steem

I'm about 2 weeks in with being apart of the Steemit community, which has been a fun experience for me so far but I noticed when I check my wallet, I can click and view the market.  I am confused on how and when to buy or sell.  Can anyone provide me with a little more information or direct me to a link to view.
