Global Warming
There is a great change in our climate irrespective of the countries/locations you are, as Global warming which is also known as climate change is significant to discuss about, because it is responsible for the increased century-scale in temperature of the Earth surface (both land and water).
Many do not take this into consideration but in a nutshell it affects the day-to-day activities of every living on earth.
What is Global Warming?
Global warming is the current increase in temperature of the Earth’s surface and atmosphere.
Do you know that there is a temperature rise in the world each year. It has been found by researching bodies that the average temperatures around the world have risen by 0.75°C (1.4°F). This is very disturbing, for example- in Africa where the temperatures are cumulatively high, it has become almost unbearable and yet treathening for the existence of both humans and life forms as in the last 100 years the weather condition was more friendly compared to the present situation. That is not to say that in the recent years that every increase in temperature was as a result of Global Warming, NO! there are recordings of increase in temperatures which was also as a result of natural causes but today it is being caused by the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere produced by human activities.
Above is a diagram of GreenHouse Effect
The natural greenhouse effect preserves the Earth's temperature at a secure level that makes it possible for the continual support of humans and many other lifeforms to exist.
Today with the increase in Industrial Operations, such as deforestation and burning of fissile fuels which are human activities related have significantly increased the greenhouse effect causing the Earth's average temperature to rise -thus the evolution of global warming.
How Deforestation and Burning of fissile fuel enhances global warming?
(a) Deforestation
Deforestation is the removal or clearance of forest or lands occupied by trees thereby converting to non-forest use.
Trees plays an important role, because it coverts the carbon dioxide (CO2) gases in the atmosphere to Oxygen (O2) which in turns combines with other natural gases that forms the ozone layer in the atmosphere to protect the Earth from excess sun rays containing hydrogen gas.
When these trees are cut down, the reverse becomes the case which leads to global warming. Therefore if we must tackle global warming as a problem we must desists from cutting down trees.
(b) Burning of fossil fuels
Fossil fuels are hydrocarbon deposits such as petroleum, coal or natural gas derived from accumulated remains of plants and sea life.
The burning of fissile fuels raises serious environmental concerns because burning of fossil fuel generates excess carbon dioxide gases (CO2) to the atmosphere which combines to the green house effect that raises the temperature of the earth.
As governments of more than one countries will continue to meet in Paris to discuss how to tackle the Climate change leading from Deforestation and Burning of Fossil fuels, we as individuals can also contribute our quarter to reduce the effects it causes.
Walk, Cycle or Use Public Transport -
by simply doing this it reduces the burning of fossil fuels burnt everyday by private vehicles. It is recorded that private owners of vehicles are the major consumers of fuels.Plant a tree today -
By planting a tree you contribute in tackling climate change as I have explained aboveEat less Red Meat -
While we enjoy some good steak, we must also note that 70% of global agricultural emmision comes from livestock farming which releases emission of methane gas on a daily that causes enhanced greenhouse effect. Red meat in particular produces the highest amount of greenhouse gases than chicken but that doesn’t mean you should eat cold steaks.Go for renewable energy consumption -
Renewable energy is the lasting solution to global warming because it uses no form of hydrocarbons deposits such as fuel, coal or natural gases. Example of this can be seen in Electric cars , solar panels e.t.c
In this study, we try to briefly discuss Global warming, causes, effects and it’s solutions.
Thank you !
Great post! I wrote a piece a couple a days ago & I feel that people really need to start talking about this subject !
Its definitely note a subject to throw a blind eye too. It’s very important to see the need to tackle how Global Warming affects us. Thanks !
