A lots of money is being spent on CSR..
A lot of money is being spent on CSR by corporates. Unfortunately most end up spending the money into same hackneyed ideas - clean a village, teach a child, set up toilets, adopt a park etc. While these are noble efforts, there is far more value to be added by investing in people to become entrepreneurs.
Don't clean a village, skill local villagers to set up a sanitation and waste management company. Don't teaching illiterate to read and write, skill young adults to be teachers. Forget about maintaining a park, train local horticulturists and organic farmers. The real need for our country is for our youth to get right skilled which leads to employment and entrepreneurship. Primary or even High school education is inadequate for any person to take up a skilled job, thus leading in vast numbers of youth getting un(der)employed. Combination of skilling with business acumen will not only create a lot more entreprenuers but each one of these entrepreneurs will in turn provide further employment. This in turn can create long term value for Corporates in future employee base and business alliances. At The Growth Labs we can help Corporations build this ecosystem that will fulfil their CSR obligation yet create long term value for the company and the nation.
