in #conspiracy7 years ago (edited)

In this current age, more and more people are starting to accept this current growing trend of our over-reliance on mobile devices and the digitization of our lives. However, despite all the potential benefits and conveniences that these improvements may bring to our lives, we must nevertheless be aware of all the possible ramifications that come with these societal and technological integrations into our personal life.

Thus, I have decided to reveal the Top 5 potential, yet highly vulnerable areas of our daily life that may be subject to intrusion and surveillance.

5 - Through Your T.V.

The release of Edward Snowden leaks has shown us the true extent of the NSA's stockpile of tools and cyber tactics for governmental surveillance of its citizens. One of the most controversial ways they can do this, is through somewhere you least expect.

Recent news has shown that anyone from advertisers to the intelligence services could very well be watching you through your TV right now. It has now been revealed that intelligence agencies and law enforcement could watch any citizen through their TVs. Information released by Wikileaks claims that MI5 and the CIA had been able to create a "fake off" mode for the Samsung F8000 range that allowed them to secretly record users' conversations through the camera and microphone.

4 - Your Phone Calls

Fortunately, while it is not legal for any government to monitor a private call that takes place within the borders of the US, the line begins to blur when you’re decide to talk to someone who isn’t located in the country. This is a widely unknown fact that CELL PHONES IN FACT record locations, which government agencies collect and track.

When a foreign phone call is made to someone who is currently located in another country, the government is legally allowed to tap your call. All Private conversations in which one party is outside of the US is subject to being monitored by the government.

3 - Your WebCam

Some people still don’t know that hackers can view your webcam easily without you even knowing it.

It was recently reported that the government, in fact, has this ability as well. Apparently, the NSA can also access your webcam remotely without any signs of entry. Furthermore, they can even monitor your microphone and conversations that you have on the web or at home. Many laptops are pre-equipped with a webcam and a microphone, which is practically a built-in virtual surveillance tool in every home. It’s much more troubling when you consider the government is the one spying on you online.

2 - Your Emails

Of course, when it comes down to internet security and surveillance, the government is able to access your emails as well. Yahoo came under fire this year for reportedly creating a back door for the NSA to monitor the emails of its customers. It is not only troubling that Yahoo allowed the government to access private emails, but it also sets a highly dangerous precedent that private companies are in some cases able or obligated by governments to reveal sensitive customer data. This also results in a greater security threat, since hackers are able to access it, leaving companies like Yahoo vulnerable to the hacks that have taken place over the recent months.

1 - Global Facial Recognition Technology

As part of the latest Wikileaks bonanza comes a program called 'Trapwire'. As according to Russian-state owned media network RT, "Former senior intelligence officials have created a detailed surveillance system more accurate than modern facial recognition technology—and have installed it across the U.S. under the radar of most Americans". This means that within every few seconds, surveillance points in major cities across the United States pick up facial records and are then encrypted and instantaneously delivered to a fortified central database center on the spot, to a secret intelligence storage facility.

With the advent of new technology, it is truly frightening to understand the reach of influence into our personal lives that comes with the promise of security.
