Happy to see that there are already so many submissions to your contest! I know that you like Africa, so I thought I would use this fact to my advantage by choosing a photo from Africa ;) I haven't been on a safari yet, but I went on a cat safari in the streets of Morocco!
For now, I am basically just a student passionate about photography and earning some money on the side by selling stock photos, so I am not sure if I can really call myself "professional", but I will try ;)
Small cat safari on the streets of Morocco. That sounds like an awesome time. I love the expression! You also get bonus points for using a photo from Africa. Great shot. I agree with Tomas, you are well qualified to compete as pro.
Thanks for holding the contest @derangedvisions ! I will try for the Professional category !
This is a shot of a Japanese Macaque or Snow Monkey that was engaging in some serious eye contact with my camera. It was taken at the hot springs (or onsen) that feeds into the valley of the Yokoyu-River at Jigokudani Yaen Koen. Literally meaning "Hell's Valley", Jigokudani was named after the steam and boiling water that bubbles out of small crevices in the frozen ground which is surrounded by steep cliffs. The valley sits at an elevation of 850 meters. Other than humans the Macaque is the primate that lives in the coldest climate and survives in winter temperatures down to -15 °C. In japan the species is known as Nihonzaru. In Shinto belief, mythical beasts known as raijū sometimes appeared as monkeys and kept Raijin, the god of lightning, company. The "three wise monkeys", which warn people to "see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil", are carved in relief over the door of the famous Tōshō-gū shrine in Nikkō. Yamanouchi, Shimotakai District, Nagano Prefecture, Japan
Awesome shot! I lived in Japan for 4 years growing up and wasn't lucky enough to see any of these little guys. I lived in Okinawa though where it was a lot warmer than mainland Japan.
Thank you for participating. I am looking forward to seeing more from you in these contests.
There are many great photos in this contest already but I can see most of the animals here were held in captivity so I am submitting this curious wild fella whom I captured when he came down from a tree in Costa Rican jungle. It is the brown-throated sloth, the iconic animal of Costa Rica.
I have no photography background, nor equipment (I use my mobile phone) so I am applying for the beginner category.
My daughter is in love with sloths!!! She loves this photo. We watched a video of Machu Picchu and there was a boy holding a baby sloth and now she is excited for when we go there because she wants to hold a baby sloth around. Here is a picture of my little sloth buddy named Sid hanging out with your entry.
Aww, this is sweet Wes! I am really happy your daughter liked that photo :) Actually, we fell in love with sloths too in Costa Rica. I think it is impossible not to have affection for these smiling, slowly moving furry bundles of cuteness :)
I guess there are enough cute cats and dogs, so here are some different furred animals. =) I encountered these curious guys during the epic hike to the Rainbow Mountain in Peru. They were running wild on the breathtaking harsh highland with an elevation of almost 5000 meters (about 16000 feet). I think the hungry one on the left is an alpaca, and the one in the middle is a llama? But I'm not sure about the one in the front. Anyone knows? I will go with Amateur.
"Dude, listen, I'm glad I can help you with your fur competition on Steemit or whatever that is, but please could you at least trim it on my face a little bit? I can't even see where is the camera is..."
This is an amazing cat shot. I can't get mine to pose like this. I have two siamese and they don't ever sit elegantly like this. I really like the colors you have.
Thanks! Actually she is a nightmare to photograph, although she's slowing down in her twilight years, she still doesn't sit still. I took about 50 shots of her and only about 7 were well framed and/or in focus. This was a split second moment where she moved her head just into the right position :) it was back breaking work I tell you! 😂 She does have the best colours, she's like a little tiger :)
Scrolling through all the submissions, this one truly caught my eye. There's so much to explore in this photo, but all leads back to the cat's face and eye. Lovely!
This is my mastiff momma with her litter of pups. Cleo is such an amazing part of our family. We live off grid, and she has so many roles here. She protects, she hunts, but most importantly she LOVES.
I have resteemed this post, and i think this is such a great contest.
Good luck to all the entrants!!
:)
Thank you for stopping by. I am glad you chose to share the pictures of your dogs as well. Here is my friends service dog. She is a Cane Corso, which is an Italian Mastiff.

It should be furry enough to qualify ! Were you stationed down there with the US military ?
Ya, my father was in the Air Force. I was in elementary school. It was one of my favorite places growing up.

For some reason I find this picture hilarious. Bonus points for making me laugh. Great shot Donica.

Beautiful dog indeed! Rare breed as well.
We have quite a few in this area. They had such a bad reputation, it's good to see them. Gorgeous dogs!
