What Did Grandma Say?(First Thanksgiving Contest by @olivia08)

This is my participation in the contest created by @ olivia08 to celebrate having reached 500 followers, however, by the time of publication of this post it has been 521 and will continue to increase!
I do not have pictures of my grandmother because they used to be little before, although they still have a big picture in my aunts house, but they live far away. What I remember most about my grandmother were the special details she had when cooking.
For example: To the soup always added a little pepper and a piece of sweet potato. This gave it a very special flavor.

When she cooked the black beans she added a piece of "Papelón" that gave them a sweet touch very tasty

Now, when I cook at home for my children and grandchildren, I use some of her "cooking secrets" and to feel the flavor of my grandmother in my food is like having her always present at home.

No tengo fotos de mi abuela porque antes se usaban poco aunque de ella conservan un cuadro grande en casa de mis tías, pero viven lejos. Lo que más recuerdo de mi abuela eran los detalles especiales que tenía al cocinar. Por ejemplo: A la sopa le agregaba siempre un poco de pimienta y un pedacito de batata. Esto le daba un toque de sabor muy particular. Cuando cocinaba las caraotas negras les añadía un pedacito de papelón que les daba un toquecito dulzón muy rico. Yo ahora, cuando cocino en casa para mis hijos y nietos, utilizo algunos de sus "secretos de cocina" y sentir el sazón de mi abuela en mi comida es como tenerla siempre presente en casa.

Hi @olivia08, thanks for your visit in my blog. Well, I knew Steemit on december 2017 for invitation of my sister @sayury. An she know it for @joseph1956 owner of the editorial Expressions Project, where they had published several books of my sister. She is a writer of stories and poetry and is also a musician. I think that here in Venezuela Steemit is known only from last year but the participation with a lot of enthusiasm of this page has grown a lot that allows we to meet creative people from all over the world and having different languages is not a barrier because we can communicate all using the google translator. Your contest attracted a lot of attention here because in our countrythe grandmothers are very special beings for their grandchildren.
I am also a grandmother and I have two great-grandchildren.
