Silence speaks Volumes

in #conversation8 years ago

Psalm 20:7 “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.”
Psalm 118:8 “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.”
Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”

Too many a times we feel and think that God is silent and we become troubled, sad and stressed that ¨He is not responding right away to my prayer¨ but have we ever considered what trust really entails? We always view God (perhaps at times , without intention) as someone Who only instructs and commands but have we ever looked beyong our own perceptions and thought of Him as a listener as well? Someone who wants to hear your story. That´s actually what He does best; to listen to the cries of His Children. Exodus 3:7; Isaiah 1:18.

Most of the people He (Jesus Christ) healed, He listened to their stories first (even though He already knew; another interesting quality about Him; He doesn't jump to conclusions based on what other people say but He listens to our side of the story too). At the Well ,Pool of Bethesda ,The woman with an issue of blood for 12 years etc...All of them told Christ their stories and not one of them did He not listen to.
So next time we think that God is silent, let us consider that perhaps He is listening to what we have to say...

"but we will remember the name of the LORD our God."

You mean Anu?

Anu, one of the Ancient Mesopotamian gods; in particular the sky-god? No, in this case the text is with reference to the Judeo-Christian God. The psalmist relays the importance of memory (remembering) in the context of identity and confidence. Often it is quite easy to rely on ones' own ability, to maintain a level of stability in life; however, true victory comes in remembering God (Whom an individual makes a conscious decision to invite and involve in their life) and that He alone, provides peace, which is essential for an unforced fullfilment in the victories gained over situations.

Trust is strengthened by drawing from past experiences and thereby building confidence to face new ones. The post is based on an overall importance of intimacy within any functional relationship with the purpose of growth (more specifically in this case, with God). So a part of maturity then becomes, realizing that silence doesn't neccessarily or always indicate absence but rather speaks to memory , which in turn calls for confidence in ones' identity (Genesis 1:26-27 , in God).
