Here's an update to coronavirus variant surveillance.

JN.1 is now the most dominant variant. JN.1 is a descendant of BA.2.86 with only one additional mutation in the spike protein. Research suggests the new coronavirus vaccines will increase protection against JN.1.

Make sure you are up to date on vaccination. We are heading into the perfect time of year for respiratory infections. We are nowhere near the seasonal peak for coronavirus or influenza infections, so it isn't too late to get vaccinated.
