Was it long ago? I don't think I would are go out in the wild in a country like that. Not being racist, but being the colour we are could attract unwanted attention.
It was two weeks ago! I'd go there over the top 10 cities in the US as far as feeling safe. I've been to some dangerous places, Northern Ethiopia isn't really one of them if you know how to travel.
