SLC-S31/W4-“Creative Interpretation| The Object -“A Broken Clock”
A Broken Clock
The old clock, still hangs on the cracked wall of my grandfather;s room' Its hands stopped at 7:15 many years ago — the exact moment we received the call that changed our lives forever. Dust covers its surface now. yet every time I look at it. I fell as if time itself is staring, back at me.
As a child; I used to a wonder why no one fixed it and , One day I finally asked my mother; they She smiled softly, her eyes filled with memories. and said, (Some things are left broken because they remind us of the people we never want to forget)
That night and I sat beside the clock and listened to the silence, It made no sound, but some how it spoke louder than any tecking clock ever could, It remended me of missed momints, words left unsaid. and the strainge truth that life never weits for anyone"
Years later, I realized the clock was not truly broken, It was preserving a memory; While the world kept moving forward, that clock protected a moment that our hearts were afraid to lose"
One evening, doring a power outage, I touchid the cold glass and whispered: “Thank you for keeping him alive in our memories.” For the first time, I understood that helling does not always mean repairing what is broken. Some times healing means learning to live with a the cracks'
My creative piece tells "the story of an old wall clock that stopped ticking at the exact moment a family experienced a deep loss. After that day" no one tried to repair it. Dus't slowly settled on its surfce, but it was never thrown away, The brokaen clock remained on the wall like a salent witness to everything that was once beautiful and complete)
Over time, it bicame more than just a machine that shows time, It turned into a memory keeper\ Every time the family passed by it, they didnt se broken hands or a stopped time and they saw laughtar. shared meals and warm conversations, and the presence of the person they lust. The clock no longer measured hours. it measured emotions.
The broken clock symbolizes frozen memories and emotional pain. and moments that refuse to fade away. It represents how some events in life feel like they stop time itself, Even though the world continues moving forward. certain feelings remain stuck in one place—especially grief. love, and remembrance'
It also symbolizes how memories can become timeless. Just like the clock cannot move forward, some emotions cannot be rushed or healed quickly' They stay with us.quietly shaping our hearts and thoughts.
This story is minly about luss and hope, The loss is deep and painful and leaving an emptiness that cannot be filled. However, within that sadness, there is also a gentle hope. The hope lies in remembering the loved one not only with sorrow but with gratitude for a the moments shared\
There is no focus on second chances or regraet. Instead, the story accepts that some endings are final and but love does not end with and them; It transforms into memories that continue to live in the heart,
My interpretation teaches that not everything broken needs to be repaired or replaced. Some broken things carry meanings far deeper than their original purpose. The broken clock shows us that pain and beauty can exist together,
It also reminds us that time moves forward for everyone, but emotional time is different. Some moments stay forever in our hearts. The lesson is to honor our memories. accept our emotions, and understand that healing does not mean forgetting. Instead, it means learning to live with love that remains even after loss.
