Advantages and Concequences

A Short, Creative Writing About Advantages and Consequences

Her whole life she had been looking for ways to help. Looking for solutions to problems that weren’t even hers. She wanted things for people that were better than what they had imagined for themselves. But the love and help that she tried to give to others was always met in ways that broke her heart. She would find that the people she fought hardest for either betrayed her, left her, or used her kindness to ostracize her further from the society she was trying so hard to be a part of.
They kept her in the chains of her own self doubt. They were masterful at luring her in, using her gifts, and dropping her, empty and frail, to spontaneously combust inside and rise again like a phoenix. No matter how many times they tried to snuff her out with the hell they inflicted upon her she would best them by embracing the flames and using them to transform herself into a stronger, more impenetrable force. The stronger she became the more they hated her. The more they hated her the more love she tried to give, tried to be a part of. And then they would tear her down, stomp her out, and try to extinguish her in the flames again. But every time she came back she was stronger, the hate they harbored for her grew and the more her love and yearning for acceptance grew. Because with every rebirth she became a better human, what they had hated her for in the first place. In turn, they hated her more every time she reinvented herself and the cycle continued.
She was always reaching for them and they were always pushing her away not realizing that the means of getting rid of her - pushing, rejecting, hating - only made her more of who she was, made her reach for them harder. And by reaching for them more they hated, rejected, and pushed her away more, like opposite ends of magnets never to touch. Her life was destined to be lonely. No matter how much she tried to change it she made it more so. She remembered her brother once telling her that the closer you are to God the further you are from people on this earth. It wasn’t easy to hear. She had hated the truth for so long, had tried to change it, to rebel against it, only making it more set in stone. So now it was time to stop fighting it and start accepting it. To start figuring out what the advantages of her condition were, because every condition has advantages and every condition has consequences. She knew her consequences well. It was her advantages she had not yet explored.

Is it a blessing to be such a ‘resilient person’? Wouldn't it be better to set boundaries in good time, say ‘No!’ and not constantly have to deal with disappointment and frustration? I don't need either of those things to feel complete.

Not needing either of these things sounds very resilient. Maybe the key the to resiliency is setting boundaries.
