The mind of a Death man: Episode 1
The story is about a young man named kelvin who was robbed in the middle of the night on an island where he went for a greener pasture and as a result of that, he joined one popular local gang just to do a payback to all who were involved, even though he wasn’t sure of those involved but based on mere suspicion, he still went for a payback.
Though he has had many successes in his 5years of rubbery, it seems he is no longer doing it for payback, so why does he continue and what is his fate? Did this end well..., let's find out.
Just before I start, let's get started from his background….
It was 4 pm on Friday after my grandmother made dinner for me and our little pet dog Cooper and we had a good time with our grandmother. After dinner when I was watching our old black and white TV, she called me “kelvin, kelvin!” with her small cracked voice she was approaching 69years, I answered with a tired voice as I was already sleepy.
As I got to her, she asked me to seat on the couch, she wants to talk to me. She said “you see, life can be so unpredictable, when we thought we’ve arrived, that’s actually when we just started and when we thought we know it all, then we are just fooling ourselves. Like I use to tell you, we don’t know it all, trust me, honey”.
She paused as she was grieved with emotions and tears started rolling her eyes and she wept uncontrollably, I tried to console her as I didn’t understand what the problem was, but she held my hand, bend my head to her chaste and kissed my forehead and continue with what she was saying, “the system we are living now, got us here, feed us like dangerous animals and kill us like wild animals, this is the world we are living in and that’s isn’t funny at all and this what I want you to know”.
At this point I know where she was driving at, of course, it was about my late mum, who was murdered by some low-life cowards because she got into a fight with her wayward friends and they set her up, she fell into the trap and they shot her with a pistol, it wasn’t actually their fault but my mum’s, she was stubborn and that led her to her early grave and my grandmother is always being so concerned about us not to choose that way of life.
“Kels, I don’t want you to be like your mother, it still hurts me seeing my hard work gone like that within a twinkling of an eye, it’s hard to see my precious gem gone just like that, the killed her”- she said. These words were like a heavy building collapsing on top of my little head, the pain and anger were obviously displaying on my face, and my heart was freezing living me stunned.
