Many of us have found ourselves asking this question at one point in life, "I have prayed and fasted, what else?" It usually germinate from a place of frustration, disappointment, or waiting. We have spent hours praying, days fasting, and months believing, yet the answer we expect seems delayed.

Prayer and fasting are powerful. They strengthen our faith, bring us closer to God, and help us seek His guidance. However, there are times when we become so focused on waiting for a miracle that we forget that God may also be expecting us to take action.

Imagine a farmer who prays for a good harvest but never plants a seed. No matter how sincere his prayers are, the harvest will not come without effort. In the same way, there are situations where prayer must be accompanied by action. If you are praying for a job, are you applying for opportunities? If you are praying for success, are you learning new skills? If you are praying for a better future, are you making wise decisions today?

Sometimes the answer to "what else?" is patience. Not every prayer is answered immediately. Some blessings take time because they require preparation. A delayed answer does not mean a denied answer. While waiting, we can continue to grow, learn, and trust God's timing.

Other times, the answer may be self-examination. Are there habits, attitudes holding us back? Are we listening to God's direction, or are we only asking Him to approve our own plans? Growth often begins when we are willing to look inward and make necessary changes.

Life teaches us that faith is not just about praying for open doors, it is also about having the courage to walk through them when they open. Prayer gives us strength, fasting gives us focus, but action moves us forward.

So if you find yourself asking, "I have prayed and fasted, what else?" perhaps the next step is to trust, act, learn, and persevere. Keep praying, keep believing, but also keep moving. Sometimes the miracle you are waiting for begins with the step you have been afraid to take.

Just as I share this with us, I’m also been encouraged because I need it also.
