He considers himself lucky to have shared a dressing room with the world's number one batsman. He said that Babar Azam wants to achieve the standard of Pakistan cricket that he has set for the world through his batting. Qasim Akram is one of the 107 young players who are part of the PCB Pathways program. The training camp for these talented young players will start from June 14 in Muridke and will continue for four weeks.

He said that PCB Pathways program is a great initiative for young players, under which young players would be given full educational scholarship and monthly stipend of Rs. 30,000. Qasim Akram has so far taken 14 wickets in 9 first class matches. He says he wants to prolong his career as an all-rounder like Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez. He is currently trying his best to improve his off-spin bowling.
