Thanks again for following on this thread, if you find it helpful please upvote. I will continue posting screen shots and updated results regularly and after the first month is completed, I will do a more thorough return analysis to determine performance.

Major changes this week:

Update 1

I was looking through the numbers and realized that the returns looked inflated based on the way I created the sheet and my style of investing. I have been calculating the return by combining my daily profits plus the natural increase in SP as the daily return. If you don't know, all of the SP balances increase throughout the day as a percentage of the mined STEEM tokens each block are distributed among the SP holders. Currently, this is giving me .014 additional SP per day, which I had been including in my return percentages. My new chart has these broken out.

Update 2

My initial calculations were solely based on my plan of compounding my returns. This used the formula (daily rate of return ^365)-1. This is the annualized rate of return with compounding formula. I added another column for no compounding. That simple formula is: Daily SP return * 365 / SP Delegation. This gives more information when looking to make decisions for the future.

Updated Results

Even with updating my formulas to properly calculate my gains, the annualized rates are still impressive. Today's results are still over 41% or 55% with compounding.

Column Explanations

  • @tipU Delegation - My total SP Delegated to tipU
  • SP Natural Growth - The daily growth of SP
  • @tipU SP Received - Number of SP received from tipU for delegation
  • Annualized Return Compounded - Return on investment using compounding formula above
  • Annualized Return No Compounding - Return on investment without compounding
  • Combined Annualized Return Compounded - Return on investment using compounding and adding in daily natural SP growth
  • Combined Annualized Return No Compounding - Return on investment without compounding and adding in daily natural SP growth
  • Cumulative SP Earned Natural / Combined - Top line is without the natural SP growth, bottom line is combined.

@tipU compared with @dlease

One of the things I appreciate about tipU is that the natural SP appreciation is added into my delegation automatically, and it keeps my percentage share of the rewards the same. On dlease, the SP does not increase my delegation, so the return on the daily payout is constantly decreasing. For example, my initial dlease delegations totaled 588.348 SP, which are now worth 589.499 SP, but my daily payout is still the same.

Difference in Returns

In evaluating the difference in returns between tipU and dlease, I uses a simple ratio of daily payout / delegated SP. This is handy for comparison. The chart below shows the difference between the ratios for dlease and tipU (both without and with the natural SP growth.) The margin column shows that for my delegations, the tipU payout is 24.24% higher, and adding in the SP growth, the difference grows to 34.01%. Multiplying the ratio for dlease with my tipU delegation would only return a payout of .143 SP vs the .178 SP I received from tipU.
