Listing Steem on CEX.IO
Buying Steem or Powering Up on Steem is still very difficult for the normal users on the Steemit platform. If you are from a non-trading background and you believe in the future of Steemit platform the chances are that you have postponed Powering Up indefinitely because the very thought of buying bitcoin from a website, transferring the bitcoins to a daunty/risky Exchange, then trading it for Steem and finallly transferring it to your steem account gives you jitters.
Irrespective of all the noise around cryptocurrencies going mainstream the entry and exit from Cryptos are still the two major problems. Just imagine if you could buy Steem directly from Steemit by paying the amount in USD from your debit or credit card. I think that ease of purchase itself would have driven the price to Steem to crazy new heights. This will take at-least 2 years to happen I think.
In the mean time the next easiest approach could be
- Buy Ether on CEX.IO. Do note that they charge a 3.5% commission if you purchase through credit card. I have not tried with Debit card or Bank transfer.
- Purchase Steem using Ether.
- Transfer Steem to you Steem account
For this to happen we need to be able to buy Steem on CEX.IO This will be possible if Steem is added a currency for Trading on CEX. There is a poll happening and let us make sure that Steem makes it to the list.
