Ledger launches the new Ledger Live application for the Ledger Nano and Ledger Blue devices. My personal experience so far.

More than a month ago they announced it and finally, on Monday, July 9, the Ledger company, creator of two of the most famous hardware wallets, Ledger Nano and Ledger Blue, presented their new application for them.

I present Ledger Live!

The end of having to use extensions of Google Chrome to access and interact with the wallet (more or less, for now is not so, at least for me). This is one of the things that I like the most about this new application.

I can already un-install Chrome!

As they say in the publication of the presentation of the application ...

Ledger Live es una nueva aplicación "todo en uno" para su dispositivo Ledger que puede ser ejecutada en Windows, Mac y Linux.

All in one! That sounds like glory if you, like me, are an old user of Ledger. But it is not the only thing.

  • Simple onboarding: It is now even easier to set up a Ledger device. Existing users can also import their accounts into Ledger Live with just a few clicks.
  • Multi-accounts: Access all of your crypto accounts in one place. No need to switch between different apps for Bitcoin, Ether, Ripple etc.
  • Real-time balance: Check the value of your assets based on real-time market rates. Balances and transactions are also available when your Ledger device is disconnected.
  • Secure transactions: On-screen guidance and transaction confirmations to help ensure that money is going to/coming from the intended sender and recipient.

But, in real life, not everything is so beautiful or works so well the first time.

My personal experience (of only one day) has been quite good although I still have problems importing some coins like Ethereum, Ripple and ZCash into the new application. But being able to see the coins and their values in the same window and in real time is incredible (the ones I've managed to import). In general, I must say that the interaction with the application is very easy and intuitive.

My recommendation, if you have some of Ledger's hardware wallets, download the new Ledger Live app right now and enjoy the new advantages it offers but ...

... do not un-install the Google Chrome extensions yet.

Awesome, thanks for the news! I have not checked my Ledger for quite a while, because of the rather cumbersome procedure, but this sounds like really user friendly and fast :)

@juanmiguelsalas every day crypto is coming with new project. I m sure that crypto is the future

Do I still need to update my ledger wallet (Chrome asks me to do that), or can I just use this instead?

When you say update what do you mean? Firmware update? What number did Chrome says?

I think I mean firmware, yes... I don't know what number. I keep snoozing the reminder to update it XD Will check (some time...)

Download Live and check there the firmware. But yes, you should update it
