As Tokyo is gearing up to host Olympics in 2020, a petition by Ken Takahashi to make XRP the official cryptocurrency has already received 7,500 signatures. With a massive influx of tourists, previous Olympic events saw long lines and confusing exchange rates at currency exchanges. Takahashi believes XRP's fast transaction times and security can solve those problems. While the petition was started 10 months ago, it gained momentum in recent times as Ripple makes its way to Japan. Just last month, SBI Holdings launched MoneyTap app powered by Ripple to enable instant money transfers for Japanese customers. XRP is priced at $0.483, gaining 1.41% in the last 24 hours.
