Big news from Enjin Coin !

Enjin Coin just released a new blog post with some big information !

Smart Wallet

The Enjin team have announced that their mobile wallet will be available for Android later this month, and will be available for iOS early next year "pending App Store approval time". This is great news considering how confident the team is in the final product.

Security

In order to keep the mobile wallet safe Enjin has implemented many security features, some highlights they shared are:

  • A secure stand-alone keyboard built into the app
  • A duel layer data security principle used by the NSA
  • Memory dump protection to erase any important values once you are finished with them
  • Screenshot protection to prevent unauthorized screenshots

Their stated goal was to reach "the security of a dedicated hardware wallet such as a Trezor or Nano Ledger", and according to them they've achieved it.

Smart UI

Another thing mentioned in their post regarding the wallet was what Enjin call a "Smart UI". The concept behind this is that the wallet will start out as a basic wallet, but as you interact with virtual goods or gaming platforms "the wallet UI will evolve on the fly to display the associated game related features".

This means is you aren't a gamer your wallet won't be clogged or crowded with extra bits and menus you won't need. The wallet will support quite a few coins out of the gate, with support for more planned for the future:

Supported Coins (On Release)

  • Enjin Coin
  • Bitcoin
  • Litecoin
  • Ethereum
  • All ERC-20 tokens by default

Supported Coins (Plans for Support)

  • Dash
  • Ripple
  • Ethereum Classic
  • Others

Enjin Smart Contracts

Enjin's implementation of smart contracts will be one of it's key pillars in becoming a major gaming coin. Their "Monolithic Custom Tokens contract allows inexpensive minting of unique tokens" by using a single contract across an infinite number of tokens. This idea was very recently adapted by CryptoKitties and proposed as a new Ethereum token standard (ERC-721)

Enjin has said they have done one better though. With Enjin Coin you will be able to do multi-token transfers in a single-trasaction ! This could greatly reduce fees for transactions.

They have plans to continue improving the smart contract functionality before it is released to the public adding more detailed whitelist flags and new minting options, among others.

First SDKs !

The first SDKs to be released will be for Java and PHP. At first these SDKs will each do half the job of a full SDK.

The PHP SDK will provide an API that exposes JSON-RPC methods for both Enjin Wallets and game servers, and handles Ethereum subscriptions and function calls. The Java SDK subscribes to notifications from the PHP API and listens for events, relaying them to the game server in a digestible format.

After the Enjin Coin MVP is complete, development on the SDKs will continue until there is a stand-alone product for each language. They plan to have a pre-alpha out next week, with alpha by the end of the month, and a beta "shortly afterward". They are also hoping to have a release candidate out in January or February, so not too long to wait.

Minecraft Plugin

On first release the Minecraft plugin will support these functions:

  • Linking a Minecraft account to a wallet
  • Console commands to transfer/receive tokens
  • Displaying/Updating inventory based on SDK events
  • JSON config files for in-game items
  • Ability for game server to transfer items to/from a player

What I found very interesting is the plan to release the plugin as an update to the existing Minecraft Plugin (EMP 3.x). The current plugin has been downloaded "over 5.2 million times since its release in 2012" which gives quite a large user base without anyone needing to install anything new.

The Future is Bright

With all of this news coming today it puts the Enjin team right on schedule with their roadmap, which is great news ! If they can keep up with all of the goals set for the next two quarters I think we could see a nice price increase to finally above ICO levels !
