Right, I'm curious about that, too. It would be fairly easy to tell how much is stored in inactive accounts, but I doubt if there's any way to know if the account is abandoned or just dormant.
Quite a few accounts have been inactive for 4–5 years while still holding a few thousand steem. To me, that pretty clearly says they’ve been abandoned.
