What will happen in case BTC splits into two?

Hello all,

Can someone explain what would happen incase BTC gets hard fork?
Will I own same amount of both coins after split? Will my wallet address be the same on both forks?
Do I have to take any precaution in such event?

I hope it's not just me who have these questions.
