No, that is simply ignorant. My fairly powerful quad core phone can mine bitcoin at about 2 megahashes per second. That would require amout 5 million phones to equal 10 terahash. Now this was NOT the case a few years ago when the bitcoin mining difficulty wasn't insane like it is today.
It doesn't matter if you think it's ignorant. It is being done.
