Mask making tradition
The mask-making tradition that is still conserved today in Majuli, India.Those masks are used for religious drama called 'bhauna' that was founded by Sankardeva-the founder of Vaishnavism-a religion based on Lord Bishnu.Since the foundation of bhauna the mask making tradition prevails in Assam still today with hand made resources
The masks are made with home made materials like bamboo, special kind of mud , cow dung, cloth pieces, hand made natural colours, etc.Though the masks are made with hand made materials they are very light.Because of their genuinety they are rare in world and of great demand.Even foreign tourists are interested in those masks and are eager to get trained in this knowledge.
