The Daily Sneak 27 March 2018 - with guest curator @paradigmprospect

in #curation6 years ago

Welcome to The (Almost) Daily Sneak!!!

Come for the crypto, stay for the community! We took a couple of days off, but we're back!

You can earn up to 5 SBD per accepted submission for guest curating The Daily Sneak. Submission requirements are published at the bottom of each edition of The Daily Sneak.

It seems the more we go on, the more life demands clear answers from us in regards to the questions it throws our way. How will we respond? Are there other ways of responding? And most importantly: What is our individual stance on the situation we find ourselves in?
It seems there is no single clear path to "the answer" anymore, but instead many options to choose from.
@paradigmprospect invites you to come inside and learn about some unconventional ways of tackling life, its challenges and opportunities in today's edition of The Daily Sneak. Somehow, we are all in this together, so let's each find our team that we want to work with - through their ideas, their experiences and their perspective on life that may teach us a lot about our own situation, if we choose to listen for a while."

@paradigmprospect is an awesome guest curator and needs no further introduction, so let's check out his selections!

and God made a dog...

Ever seen one of those movies where a human being and an animal magically find one another, to become the best team ever, under the most unlikely circumstances? These things happen all the time; we just never pay much attention to the myriad of factors coming together - that statistical analysts for all intents and purposes consider "impossible".

If you are curious how such things can happen in real life, I invite you to read up on @freebeerfridays' heartfelt story about how he met his beautiful Jack Russell Terrier Mae'ra and how they became a dream team in an instant. Best of all: You don't need to be a believer in order to enjoy his story that some movie studios would do anything for.

And while you're at it: Check out his amazing "Random Acts of Kindness Contest" as well, there are prizes to be had and even more kind souls to be discovered <3

Drug War Stupidity: Anti-Drug Misinformation

Foresight is better than hindsight. Yeah, you read that right.
It's a rough translation of a German saying that states how prevention will always be better than trying to repair the damage after it has been done.

Take the war on drugs for example, and how kids today are manipulated through school curriculums when it comes to learning about allegedly dangerous substances and how to regard them. As @artisticscreech points out in his passionate post, the information taught is often at complete odds with the actual facts.

If you have children in early or late adolescence and are concerned that they might do something stupid one day, you may want to read up on his insights now, and take a moment to reflect about what actual prevention and harm reduction can look like.
And what it most certainly doesn't look like!

Work in progress of a drawing from last night’s at home.

Balance is the key to everything in the physical realm. Without it we are like an uprooted tree.

In the spirit of balancing the information contained in these curation selections, I invite you to read about @chrisdyer's latest experiences in deviating from a path he set for himself, only to remember shortly thereafter why the choice was made originally and that it was a good choice worth re-testing.

If - after reading the last article - you feel there are only upsides to smoking cannabis you may want to hear the other side of the story, and consider some of the effects the plant can have on the mind, depending on who you ask - effects that are even less discussed than the alleged "harms" the plant brings to the one who makes use of it. It's not a black or white world anymore - rather it seems each of us must find our own way in navigating life, experience and choice. In everything we do.

Why do we pay so much to live? - Living Free

This witty post by @movingman is a call to get out of the loop and look for working ways to create self-sustainability and self-reliance with special regard to energy production, starting at a basic level. A true scientist if you ask me.

Why? Because he will actually try out things for himself, instead of getting deterred from finding an answer by the "well-established" narrative of "that's impossible". There are many tales of technologies floating around, and it really is up to the open-minded to find a way to make them work - and whether they work at all. If you are a well-educated electrician, this post will either offend you for its amount of technical "ignorance" or greatly inspire you to double check whether you might be the one who has actually overlooked something along the way.

As it has been put so eloquently before: "The ones claiming it can't be done should not interrupt the ones doing it!"

"Welcome to the Machine" - 'The Circle' Comes of Age: Surveillance and the Smart Grid

I'm sorry to say this, but if we are to continue to enjoy life in 3 dimensions as human beings we really have to pay attention to the way the stage is being reset and restructured at this time. Many have noticed fundamental changes taking place and these changes can be witnessed everywhere to more and more obvious degrees, if only to make us more aware of our situation.

Whether it is due to our changing consciousness or for any other reason - the controller's wet dream of total surveillance and control over the Earthly population is materializing to levels that were unthinkable to most people mere decades ago - possibly even to Orwell himself.

While spreading blank panic can often be in the interest of the system-architects, we must not look away when the last of our remaining freedoms on Earth are slowly eroded and the level of control over thought and privacy is amped up to degrees that have only been known in the realm of fiction so far.

For this reason, I feel very grateful for the work of @cupidzero, who delivers a solid case as to what societal developments have become clearly visible on the horizon, rolling our way like a merciless freight train if we don't step in. It really is up to all of us to look at what is happening or to live with the consequences of our silent consent to our own enslavement.
Wakey, wakey - it's time! ;)

Submission Requirements

On to the submission requirements for The Daily Sneak:

  1. You can choose from 2 to 5 articles for your entry. Submissions with only one selected article will be ignored.
  2. All articles chosen for curation need to have been published within the last 5 days before your entry. It may take time for me to publish your curation, and curated articles need to be within the reward window when your submission is published.
  3. You cannot submit your own post for curation. Selections from nsfw will not be accepted.
  4. Selected posts should have less than $50 in total rewards and have not previously been curated by The Daily Sneak.
  5. We try to spread the love around, so while selections from authors that have been highlighted before are welcome, they might not be included if the author's last inclusion was recent. Similarly, if you include two articles from the same author in one submission, we will typically highlight only one of the two.
  6. Be sure to include your personal bio for me to introduce you to readers, and make sure that each selection has commentary. This can be just a few sentences about why you think the selection is worth our attention, or what is great about it - something that will make people want to click through the headline and check out the actual article. English is preferred, but other languages will be considered as long as English translation is included.
  7. Please use this web form to submit your entry. https://goo.gl/forms/VH2MGIMEgqZmd9ef1
  8. Including image links to the source article is not required (and we prefer to leave some mystery if photography is highlighted and the article has only one photo.) However, we like to include images in The Daily Sneak, and not including any image links may decrease the likelihood of your submissions being published.

If you include more than 2 articles in your submission and not all are approved for publication, your submission may still be published into an edition of The Daily Sneak, as long as at least 2 articles are approved. This could happen for several different reasons. If you are unsure why an article was cut, please review the submission guidelines again. If you are still unsure, feel free to ask politely why it was cut.

Submission Reward

A brief biography of each guest curator will be included in the edition that uses their submission. In addition, each guest curator will receive 1 SBD for each article from their submission that is highlighted in The Daily Sneak. That's up to 5 SBD for each accepted submission!

Right now @sneakyninja's upvote is not worth as much as we are paying for guest curation. Why do we pay so much for guest curation? We believe that quality curation is very important to Steem. Paying our curators well encourages them to spend more time reviewing content and picking out the best pieces!

Published commentary about articles are the !originalworks personal opinions of the guest curators, and may not represent the opinions of The Daily Sneak or its editor. USD earnings of guest curators are based on market price of SBD at time of publication. SBD prices are subject to change.

I will be checking back in soon

Very interesting articles you have featured, and this guest curation is really a great idea. I have been following you for a while now but have not had the time to look into further. I am also contacting you now because I erroneously transferred 0.800 into your account 3 days ago instead of transferring it to Sneaky-ninja, because I follow both of you I did not notice the missing hyphen, your names are so similar that its easy to make a mistake. I would appreciate it very much if you would be so kind as to refund the money to my account. many thanks and I shall be more vigilant in the future.

This is actually the second erroneous transaction that we have refunded to your account. Please be careful with your transactions.

I am aware of that thank you very much.
