Curie Weekly Update (26th Sept - 2nd Oct 2016)

in #curie8 years ago

In spirit of Curie's transparency, we wish to use this weekly section as an ongoing development blog on our project to communicate our progress on top of the many casual exchanges happening in channel #curie.

News

  • Curie finder's fee is back up to SBD 5 per approved post.
  • We concluded re-aligning our operations to optimize our resources early last week. Barring weekend slowdowns and anomalies in the value of Steem, we saw a pretty stable week of curation.
  • Curie is working on partnerships to ensure that authors continue to receive exposure and rewards for their work beyond the stage where Curie can provide them with direct support.

Weekly Statistics

Over the last week, Project Curie curated a total of 750 posts at an average of 107 posts per day. This is pretty much flat week-over-week.

A total of 498 unique authors were rewarded. We announced an adjustment of our processes to reach out to more authors, and we can see this reflect in the numbers. This week we set a new record by rewarding nearly 500 unique authors. This is over 25% of actively engaged users on Steemit.

SBD 31,650 was generated at an average of SBD 42 per post. Despite a decline in the value of Steem last week, the author rewards are up sharply. This is partially due to people responding to our call for following @curie's votes, further boosting the rewards generated to curated authors.

This is a completely fresh list with just 2 repetitions from last week! Some of the top authors from last week have found an audience beyond Curie.

We upvoted 130 posts submitted by curators in #curie, with SBD 650 paid out to curators. Due to tighter guidelines, this represents a decline w/w.

@fubar-bdhr retains their crown as the top curator on Curie. However, competition is heating up, as @boddhisattva, @funnyman and @pfunk tracked @fubar-bdhr closely last week.

Daily Statistics

The average posts curated has flattened out at 125 posts per day. This is at the upper limit of our current operational capacity. Going forward, we expect a slight decline in the number of posts curated.

The number of unique authors rewarded is tracking very closely with the total posts - fulfilling our goal of reaching out to as many authors as possible.

Daily SBD generated has been constant in the SBD 6,000 - 7,000 range. This number is closely related to the value of Steem and witness price feeds.

For all metrics, a rather slow weekend is reflected at the end.

Awesome. Great to see the inner workings of your curation process. Thanks for taking the time to break down those statistics and update us on future objectives. A quick note... It would be interesting to also see which hashtags are covered. Maybe some kind of bubble / frequency chart to articulate weekly topic-trends? (This could keep the curators in check as well, avoiding silo-ing certain topics or themes.) Hooray transparency! Thanks again team curie!

We used to have that, but took it as it doesn't seem to be changing, and we're going for all sorts of topics too.. your comment makes sense though - will look into it again!

Thank you for this, resteemed!

Thanks for doing such a good job with @curie. I'm loving the content you're finding and the new authors to follow. So exciting to see I've jumped from 10 last week to 7 this week. Wow!
